We had a tour of Parliament this week. We arranged the trip by writing to our Local MP who arranged for one of his staff to meet us and show us round personally. As we had arrived early we missed most of the crowds that were visiting in groups later that day. We were lucky enough to see more areas of the building than the tourists and even managed to go on to the famous terrace overlooking the Thames. Our guide Rory was an excellent host and very knowledgable . Other reviews describe the the awesome sights you can view throughout the building.
Following a coffee we took our seats in the public gallery to watch the day's business. We were given a schedule of questions that would be discussed and s timetable of the days agenda. It was fascinating listening to the quick fire but orderly debate. Mr Speaker only had to shout order once. I was amazed to see members of the house bobbing up and down trying to attract the speakers gaze.this signifies they wish to speak. We did not watch the whole days events and were free to leave when we wished.
A thoroughly wonderful day and even better it was completely free. We used our bus passes to travel around London and there is no charge made when an MP arranges a visit for you.
Not sure about disabled facilities and buggy parking so I would ask before the visit if you require these facilities.
