Owner description: Most of this iconic building was built in the mid-19th century following a devastating fire in 1834. Westminster Hall survived the fire and dates from 1097. Visitors can book tours through the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and are welcome to watch debates and committees when the Houses are sitting..

We had a tour of Parliament this week. We arranged the trip by writing to our Local MP who arranged for one of his staff to meet us and show us round personally. As we had arrived early we missed most of the crowds that were visiting in groups later that day. We were lucky enough to see more areas of the building than the tourists and even managed to go on to the famous terrace overlooking the Thames. Our guide Rory was an excellent host and very knowledgable . Other reviews describe the the awesome sights you can view throughout the building.
Following a coffee we took our seats in the public gallery to watch the day's business. We were given a schedule of questions that would be discussed and s timetable of the days agenda. It was fascinating listening to the quick fire but orderly debate. Mr Speaker only had to shout order once. I was amazed to see members of the house bobbing up and down trying to attract the speakers gaze.this signifies they wish to speak. We did not watch the whole days events and were free to leave when we wished.
A thoroughly wonderful day and even better it was completely free. We used our bus passes to travel around London and there is no charge made when an MP arranges a visit for you.
Not sure about disabled facilities and buggy parking so I would ask before the visit if you require these facilities.

Thank Margaret W

Very interesting tour so glad we did it. Good value for money. Very British though ( which was bril) Italian & yank queue jumpers were put well in their place in a good but firm manner, when in Rome!!!!!!!

Every time I visit London I have to visit the Parliament buildings to learn more about the glorious history of the United Kingdom. And I can't help admiring the sight of the tower that houses "Big Ben."

Never gets old, it looks impressive from South bank and looks fantastic and well looked after you drive by it from behind. Such a shame I never got to go inside. Would love to see how it looks from the inside.
