Owner description: Most of this iconic building was built in the mid-19th century following a devastating fire in 1834. Westminster Hall survived the fire and dates from 1097. Visitors can book tours through the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and are welcome to watch debates and committees when the Houses are sitting..

Westminster Hall is impressive however once you walk into the Monarch's Robing Room on reflection it seems some what plain. The interiors of the House of Lords are incredible and the Commons debating chamber is fascinating. It took a while to get through security but once inside the wait was more than worth it.

“Worth a visit”

very enjoyanble learning experience. With all of this type of attraction it is so much better when you have a good guide, and ours was brilliant. She knew all of her history about the buildings, past and present, as well as the main historical characters. It made a change to see behind the scenes of those areas we all see on TV, and to learn how the place works. Tours lasts up to 1.5 hours, just about right.

“How the other half lives!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2014 via mobile

I was not fully up for a trip to see we're our "Lords and Masters" rule the roost; being somewhat cynical after the expenses scandal. However once you enter St. George's Chapel where the tour starts, a sense of history takes over and the cynicism goes out of the window.
The debating chamber is an eye-opener, as it is really quite a small place. The division lobby's and general precincts of the Houses are very interesting. However, the quality of the Tour Guide was superb and he made the whole trip that much better.

Informative walk through the Palace of Westminster - House of Lords, House of Parliament, Great Hall, Robing room, Lobbys and the voting rooms. Guided tour - small numbers - book in advance. Security - airplane style at entrance. Great cafe and toilets inside.
