Owner description: Most of this iconic building was built in the mid-19th century following a devastating fire in 1834. Westminster Hall survived the fire and dates from 1097. Visitors can book tours through the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and are welcome to watch debates and committees when the Houses are sitting..

I was unable to tour The Houses of Parliament the day I rocked up........apparently this is only possible on Saturdays or when Parliament is not sitting. However, I was able to observe the debating in the House of Commons and really enjoyed this. Maybe I'm a bit of a nerd but I stayed there for three hours and thought it was interesting.

I met an old friend who is now an MP so had a lovely drink on the Terrace followed by lunch and an encounter with David Cameron. But even without all this.. just walking through the big hall and standing at the Central Lobby, etc is an amazing experience! SO much history!!

Even though I was not feeling a 100% this was still an enjoyable experience for me. The tour guide was very knowledgable and the building was stunning. You got taken round the house of lords and the house of commons and considering it was a 75 minute tour ,it was good value for money. There is a good shop with plenty political merchandise.
