Owner description: Most of this iconic building was built in the mid-19th century following a devastating fire in 1834. Westminster Hall survived the fire and dates from 1097. Visitors can book tours through the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and are welcome to watch debates and committees when the Houses are sitting..

I loved going around parliment, it really felt special and a privilege to be there when you thought who and when and that decisions that changed all British people's lives over history had been made in these rooms. The rooms were beautiful and magnificent also.

Like Buckingham Palace this is opened to the public for several weeks during the summer. A guided tour will cost around fifteen pounds for adults (just ten pounds for seniors). You'll get to see both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

You will be on a guided tour listening to someone tell you things about Parliament. The acoustics of the building aren't very good and there 'll be other groups as well. If like me you may just want to see what it looks like. Both chambers of Parliament are very small. You'll get a chance to stand among the backbenches.

Even if you don't take a tour, the Houses of Parliament are a must-see attraction - and within walking distance of other major sights too.

What's not to like. So much history and so well explained by the guides. Overseas visitors value this trip more than indigenous Brits who seem to take it for granted,as they do St.Paul's

Seeing Parliament in person is something amazing. Across the River Thames is a walkway that allows you an amazing view of the entirety of Parliament and it is worth just sitting there for a little while you take it in.

Having lived in London for many years and admired the exterior of Westminster Palace, a family visit finally prompted me to get tickets for a saturday tour of the building. We arrived a bit late because security checks took rather long (good idea to arrive at the outside gate more than 15 minutes before tour starts!), but were rushed by a friendly helper to join our already departed group. A knowledgable and enthusiasitc guide took us around, explaining architecture, history, organization and running of the two houses of parliament and some of the idiosyncratic rituals that are still played out today. My visitors ranked the tour as a real highlight, and I found it informative and fascinating. It's great to have finally had a glimpse of the inside of this gorgeous and history-laden building.
