“Basic, cheap, and VERY central”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2013

The best thing about this hostel is undeniably its location. Literally opposite the British Museum and within walking distance of Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, and Chinatown.
The room was extremely basic (just bunk beds, a sink, and a heater) but pretty big, and the shower amenities were also basic but clean.
The breakfast was actually surprisingly varied, with four different types of cereal, milk, bread, jam, butter, chocolate, and peanut butter. This was all free, but of course you're allowed to buy your own food and store it in one of the fridges.
Overall a very cheap place which offered just what we needed: a place to rest after exploring this amazing city!

This is a great place to stay in London. It is centrally located, and literally next to the British Museum. The atmosphere is fun, especially at breakfast. I remember the staff being very friendly and helpful while providing local knowledge.

I stayed at this hostel for two nights and was welcomed by the friendly staff at check in. The hostel is very small and feels like you're in an actual London home you see on British television shows. Complimentary basic breakfast is served every morning (cereal). Staff were really helpful in providing tourist attraction information.

Would suggest upgrading the bathrooms but overall hostel was great!

I love this place, it's truly the best located hostel in London.... Waking up right outside the British Museum is sweet as, and the nice walk through Covent Garden and Bloomsbury to get home is sweet!! Tube & Buses all central, played heaps of drinking games and meet loads of rad people during my stay.... Staff were as always the best part of the stay, no complaints here!!

I was staying one week at this hostel, so I was placed in the second building (for longer staying people), some 200m from the main one. The advantage is that it's really quiet there - there is no kitchen or reception. Walking back to the main building for breakfast was no trouble at all.
The rooms are... well, they are typical hostel rooms. The beds are above average, as they make little noise when a person on the upper bunk is turning or climbing down. The sleep quality of course depends on the roommates, but I was sleeping like a baby - beds are comfy, linen clean and the neighbours were either quiet or the walls isolate noise very well.
Lockers are actually cages under the bed, but you need to bring your own lock. Make sure the lock is big, I had some trouble fitting a medium sized lock on it. However, none of my roommates had any locks on, saying that it's really safe.
Breakfast is basic, milk, juice, some cereals, toast bread, jam, peanut butter and nutella. All cheapest brands, so nothing special.
Cleanness - not sure why people are complaining. It's not "hotel-clean", but it's as clean as a hostel can get. Actually cleaner than most hostels I've stayed in! Didn't see any dirt in the showers or toilets and there was always someone in the kitchen taking care of the dishes and floors. Those guys are doing a great job!
The best thing about this hostel is the staff - they were incredibly friendly and helpful with every request I had. They really contribute to creating a real hostel atmosphere - lots of socializing and occasional events happening in the kitchen of the main building. At the same time, it was never too wild and it was never disturbing.
All in all, this was an excellent hostel in an excellent location. It is not perfect, but has all the right ingredients to make your stay comfortable. This place got recommended to me and I would definitely recommend it to everyone else as well.

The location is perfect and the staff was really nice and helpful. The self-help kitchen is useful for those who are fed up with eating out, it provides a place for people to socialise and make new friends as well. The cleanliness of the top floor, where I spent 5 nights, was acceptable but improvement would be appreciated.
