It was my first trip out of my country and it was a big surprise getting to a place where I felt welcome.
The staff is really friendly and the guests are nice, too. The rooms are clean and I never found the bathrooms dirty.
The location is amazing. You can walk everywhere.
If you're a traveler looking for an amazing place to stay, you should go to Astor Museum.

My stay at Astor Museum Inn Hostel has indeed been terrific. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they always take the time needed to explain the things you want to know.

The facilities at the hostel are good as well. There are plenty of showers and toilets that are always kept clean and tidy.

I have been staying at several different hostels around the world, and this is definitely one of the best places I have stayed at, if not THE best.

I will never hesitate to recommend this hostel to others, as I have really had a good time here.

Hopefully I will return in the future.

I booked for a week, after getting back from work the second night i found someone sleeping in my bed, told the woman at reception to which she replied" sorry, we don't have a system all i know is theres a spare bed in there you will have to find it" , found a peice of paper with tiny bite marks in it... Then....saw the mice 3. Of them run across the room also the sheets were stained, disgrace, worst place I've ever stayed so glad ive left now never ever stay there ever again!!!!!

I spent a lot of time in this hostel over the past year or so, whilst sorting out my move to London, and the three things that always kept me coming back were: 1) The friendliness of the staff, as I would be greeted every time I checked in like a friend with a nice welcome back. 2) The price, given it's location this hostel is one of the best value you'll find in London. 3) The location, right next door to the British Museum and a short walk to Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street. It is also only about 10 minutes walk to Holborn station so easy to get pretty much everywhere. It is also surrounded by some excellent restaurants and cafes - try Konaki on Coptic Street which is the best Greek food I've ever had.

Obviously it's not for everyone, and is more suited to younger people looking to make friends and party - but if that's what you want then it is a brilliant place to stay. Definitely reccommend

Me and my friend stayed two nights at this hostel. Overall it was an ok place, the only thing that bothered me was the fact that it didn't seem to be any employed staff. It felt as though it was people living there who were caring for the place aswell, and that feels a bit unsafe for me. I've stayed at two hostels in London and this was the best one; the location (3 min walk to Oxford St), the possibility to lock up ones belongings and the toilets was clean and fresh. You could tell that this was a hostel for young people and me being in my 25s felt almost too old.

There are good hostels and bad ones, and this is definitely one of the latter. Meant exclusively for that class of 17-23 year old on gap year or whatnot more interested in getting drunk, high, and laid than doing anything productive.

Cons:
1) There isn't a single clean surface in the entire hostel.
2) The hostel is run by people who work in exchange for a place to stay and beer money, and only work just hard enough to avoid getting fired.
3) (At least in the lower floor dorm) Mice everywhere as people ignore instructions not to bring food into the dorm. Zero ventilation, and the room is either boiling or freezing, depending on whether you have the window closed or open. Huge amount of road noise, cigarette smoke, pot smoke, and the occasional shards of glass from people throwing bottles. Because the lower dorm is on the same floor as the cafeteria, you are subjected to people playing music at ear-splitting volumes all day and night.
4) Flooring in rooms is neoprene-style foam rubber, which is good for preventing slips, but also retains fungus and bacteria like almost nothing else.
5) Security is nonexistent. Woke up every morning to find yet another random person sleeping on the floor or doubled up in someone's bed with them.
6) (At least in the lower and first floors) Bathrooms smell of mildew consistently. Showers build up garbage over the course of the day - soap wrappers, condom wrappers, tampon wrappers, and sometimes the tampons and condoms themselves.

Room Tip: Go to a different hostel.

Astor's Museum is the perfect place to stay in London if you want to have fun, meet friends or discover London by night! The staff is so nice and always here if you need something. The rooms are clean, bathrooms as well. Between the DVD room and the kitchen, you always have the opportunity to meet people from the whole world. I spent almost 2 months in there and that was my best experience in London!! I recomend it with no doubts!
