We stayed here as part of a wedding party. The couple had their reception here and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was great and the staff was brilliant. The rooms were very comfortable and I would definitely return to stay.

We stopped here on the way home from Kingston Upon Thames, as we were drawn by how pretty it looked across the common. In the evening it is just magical.

We had a lovely evening light supper and drinks, the decor is just so elegant and the gardens gorgeous, it was great on the balmy evening we were there. Iti s mid-priced and thre are less expensive places to eat but for the ambience, setting, and view it is a nice treat.

We stayed in room208 and yes the shower is slightly wild, but our Room was good once we worked out the heating. It was very warm when we arrived and first you turn off the air on, then you turn on the cool air, the window only opens overly few inches. The Room was dark ,but spacious, the fridge was welcome, the tea and coffe well above average, as were the bathroom supplies ( watch the loo roll holders!) . Dinner in the dining area looked good , but after affair starter the main courses arrived, two thin sirloins, they were cold! The waitress took my wife's back to be redo, I said no, I was hungry after a long day. The dining area was so dark that we used our mobiles as torches, as the much younger couple who sat near us. I had the full breakfast, the background music was quite aggresive, perhaps it was the waiter's favourite. The staff were all very helpful, but their understanding of English was not good, they chatted well but when a problem came up they were out of their depth. And don't park under the trees in the back car park in the nesting season!

Love this hotel. It's equidistant between Clapham Common tube and Clapham South tube but a lovely walk on a sunny day. The hotel is typical London, large rooms and high ceilings. Food is lovely (though not cheap) if you eat in the restaurant. Breakfast is included in the room price and is nice and plentiful, though I miss the days when they serve the coffee! The staff are friendly and helpful. I've stayed many times at this hotel with family, including teenagers, and we all love it. The bar gets very busy at the weekends but there is always a great atmosphere.

Room Tip: If you can pay more, upgrade your room for extra space and a better view.

The Windmill is a Young's pub, extended into a hotel and restaurant. Very conveniently situated on Clapham Common a few hundred yards from the Northern line with easy access to the city. There is a car park - unusual for inner London .Reasonably priced, a good restaurant and - being a Young's pub - an excellent bar. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms at the back are the best.

I stayed here with my mum in May 2012. We were visiting relatives close by and having a girls' weekend. The location is great. 5ish minute walk form Clapham Common tube. 2 mins from bus stop.

it is tucked in a nice quiet corner of the Common. When you arrive you forget you are in the city. It is a very lovely, traditional style English pub look from the outside. Inside it has beeen decorated with a modern twist. the dining room and bar area are lovely. the decor has been well thought out.

Breakfasts are great and the staff very friendly and helpful. They are very relaxed. It's so nice to find a hotel in London that feels unique and still has lots of charm!

Summer nights can be a bit rowdy with the pub's beer garden being a favourite with the locals but it was the weekend so we didn't mind a bit.

Our stay at the Windmill was a pleasure through and through. We came for a wedding in Clapham in late March. The weather was dreadful, so we really enjoyed coming back at night to the very cozy pub and our very nice family room. The breakfast was very good: the best spinach and mushrooms I had in a long time plus fresh fruit and nice pastries. And on top of that, the conservatory that breakfast is served in is really quite beautiful.

At night, the cooking is of varying quality and the selection for vegetarians is very limited. Our friends really liked their chowder, but the bread that we were served as a starter was quite stale.

Contrary to what I read in some of the reviews, all of the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful! Even my 12-year old son remarked on the cordiality of the young staff.

I can highly recommend this beautiful place!
