We stayed 5nights in late May.
It's always a good sign when the room looks exactly like the web picture. The location is very good ten minute walk to Victoria station close to interesting shops and restaurants too yet quiet at night.
Breakfast is very good, full English served in the basement but very bright clean dining room/bar. The best part is the front desk staff all were very, sincerely helpful. Our room was clean, well equipped and a good size for London. The room we were in could use a little sprucing but nothing major. A little more expensive than some in the area but good value for the money. My only caution is that the bar prices are on the high side

What a find! The Windermere is an outstanding hotel and a place in which its owners can justifiably take pride. I really don't understand the complaints about the rooms being too small. How much space do people need?? It's London, for heaven's sake - London hotel rooms ARE small! My wife and I stayed three nights in a "classic double" room which was more than adequate for two of us and bigger than some other rooms we've had in London and elsewhere in Europe. The stairs are certainly steep and narrow but great for fitness and if you can't or won't use them there's now a lift. Our room was freshly decorated, spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfortable that on two mornings we slept far later than we'd meant to! The bathroom was also spotless and well stocked with good-quality toiletries. All the staff we dealt with were delightful. We turned up about 10 a.m. knowing that the room wouldn't be ready but hoping to register and leave our luggage. Nick couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, taking us downstairs to the Pimlico brasserie and plying us with complementary tea and coffee while we organised our bags and sorted out our bits and pieces. This really set the tone for the rest of our stay. Breakfast was ample and delicious and the one night we ate in the brasserie the food was lovely. It's an easy walk to Victoria rail and tube station (provided you use the shortcut which the staff will explain) and an even shorter walk to Victoria coach station where you can catch the number 11 service bus to Westminster and Trafalgar Square. We really fell in love with the Windermere and we will definitely be back before too long.

My friend and I were on a 9 day trip to London, with an overnight 2 day stay in Paris. We spent 3 days at the Novotel St. Pancras, one night in Paris in a tiny hotel room, and 3 nights at the Windermere (followed by 2 nights with friends). The Windermere excelled! The staff were wonderful, the room comfortable with a full bath, breakfast was included and was delicious. I also had supper there one night before a show - very reasonable. The hotel is very conveniently located and within walking distance of many sites such as the Abbey, Victoria Station and the theatres. The WiFi service was the best of the 3 locations we stayed at. I will definitely stay here again should I return to London. Thanks for such a great experience!

Room Tip: .Staying on the ground floor is convenient and I found very quiet.

The good - 10 mins walk to Victoria station. Tea making facilities. 24 hour reception
The not so good - Tiny room, charged double the price because of the Olympics. No air-condition. I've stayed in better B & B. No bath, just a shower with little power.

The whole family (four of us) stayed at Windermere Hotel in London for two nights (13th and 14th of July 2012) on a bed & breakfast basis. We occupied the family suite which consists of rooms No 32 & 33 that are interconnected. The hotel was recently renovated from the ground up; everything was in top-notch condition and the smell of newness still lingered in the rooms. The rooms were very clean, spacious, fully equipped with everything in them functioning properly. Also, there was free Wi-Fi at all floors. The hotel staff, including the owners, were courteous and helpful at all times, oozing professionalism in their approach. Food and service at the dining room were excellent. No wonder the hotel has won several tourist awards over the years. Location-wise, the hotel is strategically situated for shopping and sightseeing – it is only about a ten minute walk from the Victoria Train Station. All-in-all we had an excellent stay at Windermere Hotel; we will go there again and strongly recommend it to anyone looking for comfortable, trouble-free accommodation close to London’s main tourist sites and underground/train network.

Nice little hotel south of Victoria station. Sold as to be close to the Victoria tube, 10 min+ walking is not close for us. Room OK (superior room), good bed, but should be at the price level, missed the minibar. Service good. Good breakfast.

Just went downstairs to ask the woman at the front desk to call and confirm our reservation at the London Eye. She told me to go upstairs and do it myself, and that there would be a charge on the call from the room even though it is a local call. She was incredibly unhelpful, completely the opposite of the gentleman the day before who helped us check in and said they could make the call for us from the front desk. Perhaps the management should look at their staff a bit more closely.

I am terribly sorry to hear of your grievance. It is my understanding that once you enquired about making a call, we advised that you would be able to do so by using the private telephone in your room. Although you were happy to make the telephone call via Skype, as we offer complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, including all guest rooms. Nevertheless, we rarely charge our guests for local calls and would have waived the charge on check-out given the circumstances.

Once again I apologise for your dissatisfaction yesterday morning. I sincerely hope that you will enjoy the remainder of your stay with us, and your time in London.

Kind regards,
Emily Hambi
