Just had 3 nights at this hotel and can not praise it enough. Had a free 3 course meal on the first night which was a bonus. The location is first rate for getting around as said in other reviews. every where is almost with in walking distance. only 15 to 30 min from most theatres and Covent garden, in the other direction Regents park , London Zoo and Kings Cross. The rooms are on the small size but more than adequate, lets face it how much time do you spend in your room. The breakfast could of been better but that may depend on what time you stager down me and the wife are not early birds lol. The other good thing about the hotel is the bar prices which don't make your eyes water for a pint ( just over £3 a pint ) unlike O'Neals near Kings X.
Jacques bar which is attached to the hotel is a bit more expensive for beer as its all bottled but you can get a reasonable bottle of wine for £11 which the wife told me was quite good, don't drink it myself so can not comment you can also take beer you have bought in the hotel bar through to Jacques. Would I book this Hotel again the answer is in a flash. If things go to plan should be there again next month in fact now I've found this gem of a hotel I will use it every time I can on visits to London at £321 for 2 people for 3 nights B & B in central London its a bargain.

Room Tip: we were on floor 7 at the back of the hotel so no view if you can get a front room you would get a view of Tavistock park but i believe it can be a bit noisier.

Rooms relatively small but comfortable, the hotel is quite large but with only a small reception desk which got quite crowed when checking out, the lifts also got quite busy at times. The food in the adjoining restaurant was quite good and the set menu reasonable priced for London however breakfast was a bit of a nightmare too many people trying to get at the buffet at once. The bar area was OK with a good selection of real ales.

My room (single bed) was rather small but good enough for showering/sleeping. The location of the hotel is a big advantage if you use the tube. Breakfast is ok; though the same menu is served every morning.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms that have common walls with the elevators. Dining room is a bit over crowded, especially the closer you get to 10AM.

Built on the site of Virginia's Woolf's home & overlooking lovely Tavistock Square, where her bust nestles in the lovely gardens, this competent hotel is a good find. While prices in London these days can take your breath away, the Tavistock is relatively reasonable; service is excellent; rooms are small but clean & the gracious breakfast room w/ white tablecloths & full English breakfast is available until 10 am. While late-night party-goers on the street can be somewhat noisy, proximity to the Russell Street underground, good ethnic bistros & pubs, banks, post office & convenience shops is helpful & equally lovely & historic nearby Russell Square, a good place for lunch/tea, adds to the appeal.
