Hampton Court Palace Hotel
Ranked #411 of 579 London B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 10, 2011

Booked this on laterooms.com where there are many reviews. Then saw there was only one review at tripadvisor, and it was quite damning. Still I'm not fussy so carried on, but was pleasantly surprised.
The Hotel, (or B&B may be more accurate) is over a pub on a side street a short walk from Elephant and Castle tube station.
Room was bright and clean, as was small but nice bathroom. Staff were casual and friendly.
I mentioned the bad review and was told the management were recently changed and they have now upgraded the rooms.
Breakfast was down in the bar next morning, a good hearty breakfast from friendly staff.
The walk from the tube was quite short, shorter than it looks on the map. Pub is in a residential district, quiet in the daytime, was back too late to know what the pub crowd is like.
I would definitely use this again as a cheap base from which to do things in London for a few days.

I'm actually quite taken aback that the owners of this hotel would let these rooms in the state that they're in. I paid £75 and quite frankly I wouldn't stay there again if it was free. The carpet was stained, the ceiling mouldy and dripping. Wallpaper peeling off and the room just felt sticky and had a sour smell. I have travelled the world and stayed in 100's of different accommodations and I have never felt so dissatisfied.
