“Ditto on the Location”
Reviewed October 13, 2006

I totally agree with the comments from other reviewers regarding the location. Without question, it is unbeatable. This is maybe our fifth trip to London, and this location has topped even four and five-star places. The Marriott is right next door, and they were charging a walk-in rate of over $450.00 USD per night.
As far as the room, it was just basic. It's clean and simple, but nothing fancy. The towels are thin and minimal. For some odd reason, the bathroom door kept closing, which was strangely annoying! There is a restaurant on the premises, but we didn't eat there. For such a busy location, it was surprisingly quiet in the room. The front desk personnel are very friendly and helpful.
The underground and local bus service is very close. There are restaurants, a Starbucks, and activities right outside the door. The London Eye is around the corner. It gets pretty active, so go early when it first opens or later before closing. I believe you can book online for a discount.
One thing I should mention....If you are physically challenged, this hotel is a nightmare at the entrance. There are quite a few steep stairs with no ramp into the hotel at all. Not great for hauling luggage or if you are in a wheelchair.
Overall, we would not consider staying anywhere else again in London.

We have stayed here about four or five times and have always been satisfied with our visit. The rooms are clean and spacious but we've never had a good view! Checking in can sometimes take a while but this time we were lucky and there was no queue.
The bar is ok, clean and friendly with standard hotel prices, we've used the restaurant once and it was average.
Excellent location if you're travelling out of Waterloo on Eurostar - a ten minute stroll from room to platform.

We stayed at the hotel at the end of September and would stay there again.
Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable if a little dated (but that's just being picky) All the facilites worked including wonderful shower, T.V. and hairdryer. Maid service and towel change were daily. Tea coffee and biscuits provided in room with extra available at reception.
Staff were polite, proffesional and friendly, checkin was a breeze we even got a free drink and kids colouring pack.
Hotel facilities were basic but we were in London so who needs a Gym? The hotel has a bar and resturant. We ate breakfast there
It is £7.50 per head but kids eat free and its a hot and cold buffet so you can eat as much as you want and the food was a good quality.
It is the location for the price that makes this hotel though, in spite of its central location the hotel was fairly quiet as no traffic is alowd on Belvedere Road and the rest of the hotel faces a park or the River. This hotel is 30 seconds from the London Eye \\\(round the corner) and about 1 minute from Parliment/ Big Ben. Tube stations nearby at Westminster and Waterloo (5 minutes) and the Tube is the quickest way around London you can see all the sights but you can also catch sightseeing and regular buses at the top of the Road on Westminster Bridge.
If you don't fancy the hotel resturant there is a selection of bars and resturants accross the road including Neds Noodle Bar for Chinese and Vietnames, a mediterainian resturant and an Italian place there is also a Sushi Bar, Internet cafe and a starbucks. There is also a a late night grocery store.
This hotel is ideal for a short stay.

To begin with, I would absolutely stay there again.

The hotel is located at the London Eye, across the bridge from Westminister / Parliament. Despite the massive crowds at the Eye, the hotel faces the other side of the river, and is surprisingly quiet. It is 2-3 long blocks from Westminister and Waterloo stations, and walkable to most sights (Buckingham Palace, Traf Square, Chinatown). There are several decent to good restaurants across the street and a small convenience store (and a Starbuck's too).

The rooms are nice and clean, though nothing fancy, and we had a good size room for 2 people. And for London, 92 GBP / night is a good deal, I think. The hotel also offers a good selection of teas for the room.

We did not have heat issues, despite the 90 degree weather and no AC. The room was cool enough.

We had many hotel and non-hotel related problems on our trip, and the staff were tremendous. You never realize how important they could be until you need them.

So, the problems: we had several electrical problems at the hotel. (1) The biggest problem was that the hotel's fire alarm system is somehow connected to other parts of the County Hall building. We were awakened by two false alarms (just when we were converting over to GMT) from outside the hotel (the hotel alarms go off too) and they killed us. (2) The circuit breakers are sensitive, one blown light bulb and all of the lights in the room go out. It's a pain if it happens in the middle of the night. (3) There were very few outlets, a potential problem if you're trying to recharge your camcorder / etc.

All in all, a nice hotel, and I would be willing to risk the fire alarms and stay there again if I returned.

Stayed at the Premier County Hall for 10 nights. Arrived in the morning, planning to store our luggage while we toured but they allowed us to check-in immediately. Unpacked and hit the bricks.

Room was large and very clean, but no view of anything, except a brick wall, but who cared. We were out the door in the morning and didn't return until late. Ate breakfast at the hotel the last 3 days and found it to be adequate. A bagel and coffee across the street was almost as expensive.

Location, location, location. It is all right there and a quick walk from Waterloo. Look for the walkway a block from the hotel. Waterloo also has a great food court and store. After arriving back to the station by train or tube, we picked up food and took it back to the room. Never did find ice at the hotel, but maybe you had to ask.

Don't plan on watching much TV because they don't offer much, but who cares, the best show in the world is behind you. We hit the Eye late afternoon and there was not one person in line. Walked right on.

The only down side of the trip was the fire alarm going off twice during our last night, 3:00 am and 4:30am. Heard the staff say it was something at the Dali. Made for a very long day traveling home.

Would I stay there again? You bet!

It was our first time in London. We were vacationing in Germany and planned to go to London for a couple of nights only. I wanted our stay to be memorable, comfortable and not extremely expensive. I booked this hotel relying on the reviews from this site. Thank you, I didn't regret it!
Our family of four (children are 8 and 10) loved it at the hotel. The room is spacious enough, just like in North America, clean (!), and the location is right around the corner from the busiest attraction - The London Eye. Once we happened to walk by the Box-office for The London Eye late at night, just before closing, and bought the tickets for the next morning "flight" without any lines ... At 10am, before all the tourists show up for the attraction, we had terrific time on the biggest ferris wheel in the world!
In the end of our stay, we needed to leave our luggage somewhere after we already checked-out, and they kept it for us at the hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in July. I was initially reluctant having viewed some of the candid traveller photos that had been posted but was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel location could not be better and is close to many of the attractions and places of interest. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room itself was basic but very clean and comfortable, with everything in working order. It was, however, extremely hot as there's no air conditioning and the windows don't open very far but I'm sure with the English climate this isn't a problem most of the year! We also had absolutely no view but didn't spend much time in the room anyway.

The bathroom was also extremely clean, the shower was brilliant and we had no problems with hot water etc although the room got very hot and steamed up very quickly and you couldn't prop the door open for fear of setting off the fire alarms!

The buffet breakfast is definitely worth the money - good selection and very tasty. The food in the restaurant and the bar was equally good and reasonably priced.

Overall we were very satisfied with the hotel and would definitely stay again, although perhaps not during the hottest week of the year!
