“Spotless and comfortable”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

Stayed here for 2 nights on my own,was sitting an exam and so needed peace and quiet to do some last minute revision and have a good nights sleep.
Stayed in room 12 and with fire door closed over not a sound to be heard. All boxes ticked, clean, comfortable,Wifi, t.v.-,adjustable heating, tea/coffee facilities and SPOTLESS ! really clean and shining throughout hotel.
Owner a lovely gentleman, cooks a tasty breakfast and son in law friendly and helpful not forgetting the front of house staff-great team.
Could leave my luggage there and borrow brolly after checking out-returned for case around 4pm. Would have no hesitation in staying here again. felt very safe, this was very important as I was a single traveller.
Nothing too much trouble.Nicest hotel on the street.
Thanks to all

We recently stayed at your hotel for one night on our way to France.

The check-in process both online and in person was very easy and friendly. The room met our needs perfectly being clean, large enough and well equipped with tea makings, hair dryer, etc. The Wifi worked fine even though there was a sign saying it was out of service.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast the next morning was filling and equipped with some helpful advice and conversation with the cook (who may be the owner?).

Location is great for Eurostar, St. Pancras and Picadilly line.

We would recommend a stay here, thank you!

Didnt think it was possible to get a hotel in London for under £100/night, or at least one you'd want to stay in, but the Alhambra was a pleasant surprise and proved me wrong

Yes, its basic, yes it's a bit small, but the rooms were well kept, new decor, comfy and clean.

I didnt have breakfast as I was up and out early, and theres a Costa at the end of the road

Location good, handy for Kings Cross, I walked from Euston and it took maybe 10 minutes

Staff were polite and made sure everything was OK

Free wireless was another bonus, it wasn't the fastest but seemed to work ok, enough for Facebook and email but probably wouldn't Skype on it

Overall really happy and would stay there again

My son and I were in London for a few days and we chose to stay at the Alhambra based on previous reviews. It is conveniently located near Kings Cross Tube (Subway) station and hence close to St. Pancras railway station. The hotel is about 1/2 block off of Euston on Argyle Street. There are many restaurants, pubs and coffee shops in close proximity of a few blocks.
The staff are friendly and polite. The room was a typical London room, small but functional. Our room had two twin beds, a small bathroom (sink, toilet and shower), a closet containing a safe, a small tv, kettle and hair dryer.
The bathroom had a couple of funny quirks: 1) the sink is a small one and mounted against the wall so when bending over to wash your face ( no face cloths - not uncommon in London hotels) you bang your head on the wall 2) the toilet had a habit of sounding like it had been flushed on occasion during the night . Not sure if this was a pipe or toilet issue?
As I like to sleep with the window open to circulate fresh air we noticed quite a bit of external noise: the metro, sirens, a neighbour talking from the next building, etc. Although with the window closed much of the sound was muted.
The beds were comfortable, each with 2 pillows and a small lamp mounted on the wall that aimed down toward the pillows. The sheets were clean as was the room.
The included breakfasts are fine whether you choose the Continental or the cooked English( ham, sausage, egg, beans). They are served downstairs and the staff are friendly and polite.
If it weren't for the plumbing/toilet issue I think I would have given a 'Very Good' score due to cleanliness, location and friendly staff.

I was very impressed by my night at The Alhambra. The staff were friendly and efficient, breakfast was good. I got a good deal through LateRooms.com. The room was pleasant and quiet being at the top of the hotel at the back. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and well maintained.

OK - it is a budget B&B disguised as a hotel. Many reviews point out the tiny rooms. And I'm sorry, management, my room (18) was more minute than any other London hotel room I have been in, bar Tune . No excuse for no shelf in the bathroom even though it was too small to dry yourself in, even for me at 5'1". But all this was manageable for 1person, 1night. BUT in the middle of the night the most disgusting smell from the drains. Hydrogen sulphide (bad eggs) so strong it kept me awake. The bathroom smelt pretty bad from arrival - musty stale drain smell - but this night time assault was appalling. I reported at reception next day and they looked surprised and apologised. But I did wonder - if this happens routinely is that why they get you to pay "before midnight" ? Breakfast is greasy as reported here and they say "eggs" plural when it is one. Not that I minded! One big plus: socket next to the bed! Bigger places fail with that. And it is clean. Apart from the drains....

Dear Guest,

Thank you for the recent feedback on TripAdvisor.
We are very sorry if you did not fully enjoy your stay with us.
We looked at the issue raised with regards to the drains. We have already looked into the problem and it seemed to come from the shower drain which somehow was not allowing the water to rest on the drain and therefore was releasing the smells from the drain.
Unfortunately, we cannot control these issues when they happen but be rest assure that we deal with maintenance problems raised in a prompt manner.
With regards to room size I am afraid that the rooms are in general quite small in London but we offer a great Location and a decent Freshly Cooked English Breakfast in the morning, together with a Bright and Clean Room.
Again my apologies.
Kind Regards

Alhambra has the best location and the stuff are SO helpful .
Breakfast has 3 version and you can eat as much as you wish
St. Pancars, King + st. and Oxford street are all walking distance which is another advantage

Room Tip: dont need a tube or bus to get to Oxford street - walk thru the British museum and enjoy !
