Anyone out there with a spare £250,000 wishing to finance a complete renovation project of what was once undoubtedly a fine Georgian building need look no further than the Ruskin Hotel. I use the word "hotel" in its loosest possible sense - furniture and fittings which should have been consigned to the skip in circa 1965 still adorn the rooms, carpets so badly worn and stained that any attempts at establishing original colours are rendered impossible, no televisions in any of the rooms other than the one in a communal lounge next to reception. I could go on as the snagging list appears to be endless. A few words of advice - whilst the location is pretty good (as far as sightseeing and the West End is concerned) and the rooms at circa £50 are certainly cheap, do yourself and other family members a huge favour - save up your pennies and loose change and spend another £20 or £30 and secure yourself somewhere decent to stay. Until that mystery benefactor comes along with his spare £250,000, I for one, will not wish to spend another night at the Ruskin.

Stayed at the Ruskin Hotel for 1 night and was really pleased with the location in Bloomsbury which is a nice area of London. In comparison to the other Hotels in the area at the price we paid of £69 for a double room with English breakfast it was very good value. We received a warm welcome when we arrived from the Guy on reception and he was very polite and helpful.
Our room was small but adequate and comfortable. We had only a washbasin but for 1 night there was no problem in sharing bathroom facilities, which seemed clean.
The breakfast was very nice and the service excellent as we were served straight away and the hot breakfast arrived promptly, we were also offered further coffee and toast.
Whilst this is a small Hotel, and basic facilities we were really pleased with our visit and for a short break would visit again..

The staff were helpful and the place is good value for area

Breakfast was very basic. The room was freezing and difficult to sleep in although the staff provided an electric heater (which helped a little). Old and dingy generally.

We are a family of 6 trying to do an inexpencive London trip. This ofcourse is not possible, but this hotel made it more possible.
We booked 2two family rooms, one with a bathroom and one with shared bathroom. The total price for both rooms was 184GBP.

The rooms were by no standard particularly nice, new or clean, but it did provide a place to sleep. It is located in London with a selection of resturants and bars around, but it is not in walking distance of any of the attractions we wanted to see(Tower of London, Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham palace, Piccadilly circus, Trafalgar square). It is however right by the British Museum.

The breakfast was good and, breafast cereals, juice, coffe and bacon, sausage and egg. Parking is not provided, but there is a parking garage nearby where we could stay for 18GBP for up to 24hours.

I recently stayed in this hotel for one night. It did get me out of a tight spot and it was cheap. I will say that the hotel has three saving graces; the location, the price and the staff. We managed about 4 +/- hours sleep between the hours of approx one and just after 5, being woken by noise from other guests, who sounded like they were in the same room, but with the dubious "benefit" of amplification from the halls. My daughter opened a drawer and it fell apart. I wouldn't let her walk on the carpet without shoes on, as it was filthy and worn through to the underlay, and then beyond in some places. Fluorescent lighting. We shared facilities and the shower room seemed new and was one of the better aspects of the stay. The toilet room was also new but the toilet was not clean. The evacuation map on the back of the door did not seem to match the floor layout. The breakfast was served in the basement, it was ok, the service staff were very pleasant, but it was not really enough to make up for the room. The location for getting around and seeing London was fantastic.
