Description: Great British dining is executed perfectly at Marcus Wareing's The Gilbert Scott with a menu featuring British produce cooked to perfection. The beautifully grand Gilbert Scott bar presents fine bespoke cocktails and an imaginative wine list. There is a private dining room for large parties and the Kitchen Table is perfect for an extravagant meal, close to the lively hub of the kitchen.

Nearly two years after I last reviewed this outstanding restaurant, I think it's time for a re-review. I'm glad to say its excellent standard of cuisine has been maintained. Everything I said in June 2011 still applies. The food remains superb but must be selected carefully for your individual taste. The amazing chocolate mint dessert still reigns on that part of the menu so far as I am concerned. The service is still satisfactory, helpful and friendly but still not particularly fast or attentive. If you want fast service, be sure to tell them when being seated. The bar just inside the street entrance at the corner of Euston Road and Midland Road is a comfortable and convenient place to meet before going in to the restaurant. All decor is impressively maintained Gilbert Scott original, but the atmosphere enables casual comfort too. The menu remains extensive, very interesting and fulfills its promise - as it has since the opening.

Excellent service and beautiful British food, I had Venison with walnut mash and it was some of the nicest food I have eaten, ambiance was very nice and a pianist accompanies your dining experience. Staff were friendly and helpful and as a little extra treat we were given truffles as it was our anniversary. Not too bad price wise circa £80.00 per head with wine but you do not expect it to be cheap with the level of dining quality you are getting.

Thank Paul T

We enjoyed a nice sunday lunch/roast here this past weekend. The room is beautiful and the food was all delicious. The roast was a three course meal, so not quite traditional (no yorkshire pudding!), but we all enjoyed all the courses. The service was a little on the slow side - but we were there to enjoy the company, so we didn't mind, and any requests made where met quite fast (for example more delicious bread, or an extra drink).
We were meeting someone who had to catch a train afterwards from St. Pancras, so it was a great location, comfortable setting, and good food. We will return in the future.

Great building and restoration work - but let down by poor maintenance i.e. dirty carpets, broken loo flushes etc - makes you wonder how clean the kitchens etc are. Limited menu is expensive, and poor value for money. Service is good - we were politely advised of a 20 min wait for mains; staff welcoming and efficient. Portions meagre and overpriced. Wine list extensive but some crazy prices. Bar area v. popular with great atmosphere.

We are foodies and our experience at the hotel was great if you wish to pay for such. However this restaurant has superb service and great architecture but is noisy and crowded between tables. But food no better than a less than average hotel hotel at these prices and we would not go back. One course very good but the rest not so and mark up on wine is huge.
