Hilton London Paddington
Ranked #412 of 1,075 Hotels in London
Reviewed February 9, 2013

We stayed at the Paddington Hilton in December 2012. We had booked an executive king room and received a nice surprise on arrival to discover we had been upgraded to a terrace suite. We only stayed 1 night and had a late arrival so we didn't have as much time as we would have liked to enjoy the upgrade!

The suite was spacious with comfy bed, bathroom small for a suite but pretty standard for London hotels. The bonus was the large terrace with views over the London rooftops, pretty chilly when we were there but it would be great in warmer weather.

As mentioned in other reviews, the location is very good, expecially for access to the Heathrow Express - only 15 minutes from Heathrow airport with easy an walk to Hyde Park, Oxford street and many other places are a short taxi ride away.

We only dealt with the Reception staff who were all very friendly. We tried to have a beer in the bar when we arrived but it seemed to close at 11.00pm, even though Reception staff told us the bar was open to midnight. Very nice breakfast in the executive lounge.

We would highly recommend this hotel if wanting to stay in the city centre and are arriving late or departing early from Heathrow.

Travelling early morning out of Heathrow this was an excellent choice, Exec room up to the usuals high standard. The staff were incredibly helpful, they found us a trolley opened all the doors to the station. Room and service excellent. You could not wish for a better location for getting to Heathrow with ease. Time from leaving room to arrival Ter 3 Heathrow, 25 mins !

Stayed for one night before a flight from Heathrow. It is perfect as a Heathrow hotel, walking straight out and onto the Heathrow Express is a quicker way to the terminal than most of the hotels actually at Heathrow! I wouldn't necessarily stay here for a leisure break, if you do book an upgraded room as the standard rooms are quite small. I like the Art Deco styling and the staff are very attentive and helpful.

We stayed at the Hilton London Paddington during our stay this past summer. It was a vacation for the Olympics. The hotel was very clean, beds were very comfortable, breakfast was fabulous, Starbucks on sight, and EXCELLENT location!! Service was great. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: There were three of us and we stayed in a suite- much needed space for a week!!

We booked the Hilton Paddington Station because we were also traveling to Cardiff, Wales, and were looking for a convenient location close to the train station. This couldn't be more convenient, as it is literally right in the train station. You do not even have to leave the building to enter the hotel lobby (although there is street acceess as well). As far as its location in London itself, we found it perfect for exploring the West End, and it's just a few blocks from Hyde Park. Portabella Road is a 10-minute walk. There are plenty of great Lebanese, Indian, and Fish and Chips take-away restaurants very close by.

We stayed for 3 nights, and then visited Wales. We returned from Wales and spent 2 more nights. The hotel stored our excess luggae for us while we traveled to Cardiff, which was also highly-convenient for us. The rooms were large by European standards, and in decent shape. I have stayed at far better and worse Hiltons before. This was average. The breakfast buffet was lovely and ample. There was an array of traditional English breakfast items, like stewed tomatoes, beans, and sausages. There is a Starbucks in Paddignton Station, and is wa easily accessed from the hotel lobby. The only complaint I have is that while we were guests at this hotel, we were asked to leave the common guest area if we were going to drink our Starbucks coffee. Apparently the only coffee you can drink in the couch areas is the coffee they sell in the hotel. Weird, since families with kids who were waiting for their rooms could sprawl out and nap there like a bunch of hobos, but we were not allowed to sit in that very same area with our "contraband" coffee. Very weird.

All in all, it was a good stay at a very convenient location for those using London as a home base for travel in other parts of the U.K.

This hotel is very well located for anyone travelling via Paddington station, and there is even a footbridge connecting the two buildings. However, this also has a downside as it's a very busy station and my room seemed to be above one of the main roads into the station, so was very noisy late into the night - plus some kind of alarm went off at 2am from the station/constructions workers the first night I stayed there.

I was also horrified to find that they pre-charged my credit card over £550.00, without even warning me, and this is still showing on my card 4 days later.

However, the staff were all very nice, the breakfast was OK and it's a nice enough hotel, although not worth the price I'm sure. I certainly wouldn't stay there for a leisure trip.

Does the job being so close to the station. Room could do with a refresh from a wallpaper perspective. Perfectly functional for a business trip. Would not recommend for a visit to London for non business travellers.
