Tried to make reservations for May 1 - 4 and received an e-mail from Owners that they had lost their lease, landlord going to remodeled into a single family home.
Owners of the wonderful B & B said they are retiring... Don't know why they have not taken down their website... Took 2 days to get the "we are closed" response.

We stayed for 4 nights, really enjoyed staying here - beautiful, cozy room (we ended up in the family room - nice and roomy for the 2 of us), very clean, comfortable beds and we had great sleeps, the room was very quiet. We had a good chuckle about the bathroom, as it was the size of the bathroom on a Greyhound bus and we had to step up to get into it, but hey, we didn't come to London to spend our time in the bathroom, so it wasn't a big deal and everything was in good working order.

Cartref House is in a fantastic location - a short walk to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey or the underground, and the Victoria Coach station is across the street - best way to travel to/from Heathrow is the 5 Pound coach!), It's in a nice, clean, upscale area and we didn't have any problems walking around, even at night (2 females) walking from the Underground.

Breakfast was great, they have a lovely dining area, and the host gave us lots of great information and tips on restaurants, even helping us figure out what was on in the West End. We had a delicious meal at the French restaurant just a few door down, recommended by Derek. We have no complaints, this is a perfect place to stay in London and we hope to be back again.

Room Tip: Our room faced the street and we found it very quiet, even with the window open at night

On a recent stay in London, the Cartref House B & B provided us with an extremely clean, efficient, and homey stay. The price was very reasonable in a city with high hotel rates. Cartref House is around the corner from the Victoria Coach (bus) Station where we arrived via National Coach bus (very clean and efficient) from Heathrow to London for about 6 Euros. In our 3 day stay we were able to walk to many sights such as Buckingham Palace, Churchill War Museum, and the theatre district. We were about 3 blocks from the Hop On Hop of Bus route which we used as transportation while there, however on our next visit we will use the tube. It is surrounded by pubs with great food. David and his friendly staff provided an outstanding full English breakfast and many travel tips. I will definitely return to Cartref House.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lower floors are easier with suitcases as there are no elevators.

Cartref House provided us with a well sized twin room (actually double and single beds) with a spotlessly clean ensuite shower room. The room was fresh and airy and both beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was a lovely cooked English breakfast. The owners and staff were all very friendly and informative. The location was perfect for Victoria coach station and a short stroll from the tube and mainline train station.Ebury street is a quiet and quite chic little haven in London away from the busy main roads. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Convenient location to Victoria Station, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace etc. Nice upscale residential neighborhood with upscale only(?) dining choices. Derek is a good host. Good breakfasts. Room was up several flights of steep, narrow stairs. Tiny room, tinier bath, functional bed, sloping floors, clean. Adequate as a home base. Needs updating.

This B&B was recommended to us by friends who have stayed there several times over the years. We were not disappointed. Friendly, funny, and helpful proprietors. Comfy rooms with everything we needed and nothing more. (Family of four stayed in two rooms with twin beds.) Competitive rate for the central London location, clean comfy rooms, and hearty breakfast. (London hotel rooms and bathrooms are small by American standards, keep in mind, but not ridiculous.) Pleasant, quiet, quasi-residential location near Victoria Coach Station. Easy walk (8-9 minutes?) to either Sloan Square or Victoria tube stations. Restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops in the neighborhood. Very safe area. We took our friends' recommendation and took the National Express Coach (bus) from Heathrow. About an easy hour's drive, and then you are literally around the corner from the B&B. This was a great area to stay in -- easy to get all around London from here. Thanks to our hosts at Cartref House -- we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms are on three different floors; the rooms with windows overlooking the backyard are a bit quiet...
