“extra mile to make you feel warm!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

My family of 5 stayed 4 nights with Arosfa. We had pre booked day tours that needed to be at pickup point by 7am ( 10 min away from Arosfa). We were unable to have breakfast as it only starts serving at 7.30am. After discussion, Alison and Ralfph offered to serve us eariler but without cooked food as the cook only comes after 7. I was surprised but appreciated the gesture they offer which made us feel warm in winter season. Thank you Alison and Ralfph for the extra mile and will definite go back Arosfa if we travel back to London.

Great stay at the Arosfa...close to everything and very affordable! Allison and Raoul greeted us with mince pies and mulled wine. They were so accommodating and ensured all of our needs were met. The breakfast was always good and the coffee was delicious. Thanks for making our stay in London so grand!

Very pleased to have chosen the Arosfa hotel, even if only for one night.

I initially booked two nights but my business plans changed, I apologised and received an amended booking form by e-mail very quickly.

The location is probably not what people think of first when staying in London, but I would recommend it. Short walks to for example tube station, supermarket, bookstore, Starbucks, shopping mall, restaurants, the British Museum. I chose to walk to Oxford Circus which was much more doable than I thought (took me 25 minutes, with a few photo stops).

The proprietors are very sweet and go out of their way to accomodate. There's a warm very personal welcome, the breakfast has a nice, attentive personal touch as well.

If you stay longer, there's a nice common area that will make you feel at home.

The room was nice - I had a twin room on the street side. It's a small room, but normal for London standards. Very well equipped and renovated. The street is one of lovely old town houses, the door-is-on-top-of-some-stairs kind. It's rather busy, so expect some street noise when you stay on the street side, even with sound-proof rooms. But, I say this as somebody who wants to sleep with an open window because I have headaches when closed off from outside air. I fully expect the noise level to be very low with the windows closed. Given the fact that the rooms are small, it might be recommended to turn off the heating, because the room heats up quickly. Bathroom was nicely equipped and recently renovated.

Breakfast was nice and more than enough - with the full English, you'll last way past lunchtime! It's personally served on the table, it's not a buffet.

The atmosphere is basically just as you want it. As a solo traveller, I liked the personal touch, informal atmosphere and availability of the staff, but it's not in your face: if you just want to check in and be by yourself, that is also very possible.

pleasant hotel .little bit noisy if you have a front room .
the owners are brilliant and cant do enough for you.

you wont suffer with the cold stopping here.
i had to turn my radiator off because it was so warm.
after i booked out , Alison and Ralph (owners) allowed me to
leave my luggage for a few hours until my train arrived.
kings cross is an easy 10 to 15 min walk

London is a very expensive city and, unless you want to spend lots of money, most budget hotels are very far away from the city centre. But try Gower Street, in the middle of Bloomsbury, and you cannot go wrong. Arran House is not glitzy: the rooms are basic and very small. However, they are very clean and include a private mini-bathroom; breakfast is very good (so good, in fact, you might have a hearty breakfast and easily skip lunch). And the hotel is at walking distance of all attractions in downtown London. The staff is very serviceable and kind.

Room Tip: “Do not use the Russell Square tube station to get to the hotel: use Euston Square instead, which is...

The Arosfa is a little gem - lovely old property converted with some aplomb - very central just off Tottenham Court Road. The rooms are very small - like Parisian hotel rooms - but have everything you need and the outfitting is of excellent quality throughout - far better than many 5 star hotels I have stayed in. A larger room and The Arosfa would be 5 stars for me. Great value for money hotel in my eyes. The greeting was very warm and friendly and the front of house team were superb. The breakfast was very generous and good quality; the stairs help you work off the breakfast you just indulged in. This place certainly works for me.

Room Tip: Rooms 3 or 7 are not on the road so you don't get the traffic noise in the morning

went to this hotel after reading all the reviews on trip advisor.
we had a triple room in the basement yes some would say bathroom compact but had everything you required, room consisted of double bed and 1 single but still enough room to move around
and we were only sleeping there so why pay for extra space as you would in other hotels.
Alison and Ralph gave us information on where to eat and where to get tubes etc. breakfast
was hot and plentiful and they stored our bags until we caught train home. I would recommend this hotel for a great stay in london

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Arosfa Hotel is a refurbished 200-year old Georgian Town House in the heart of historic Bloomsbury district, the former home of the famous Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir John Everett Millais. The cool white garden squares and wide streets of Bloomsbury have been a pull to thinkers for centuries, and it sometimes seems like every second house has a blue plaque denoting that a great writer, scientist or philosopher once inhabited the building. It was in Bloomsbury that Karl Marx created communism, Virginia Woolf defined the twentieth century British novel, and Charles Darwin first conceived the theory of natural selection. The imposing bulk of the British Museum, home to seven millennia of human art and artefacts, dominates the area, and there are plenty of other academic institutions including Birkbeck College, the beautiful University of London Library, and RADA, London's grandest drama school. ... more   less
