Description: On a pretty residential street just off of Warwick Avenue, you'll discover a Persian oasis in the shape of Kateh, a contemporary Middle Eastern restaurant with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The Kateh menu is based around traditional Persian cuisine, all utterly authentic, showing those historical French influences in the flairs and techniques something especially seen in Kateh's sublime desserts. Carefully put together by owner Narges Pourkhomami, for whom Kateh is quite clearly a labour of love, the restaurant combines the best of modern Iranian hospitality and style with Persian authenticity and touches of London sophistication. So not only is the menu painstakingly put together to offer guests the perfect dining experience but Kateh's surroundings; the white washed walls, the simplistic furniture and the eccentric reclaimed tabletops, add that something extra that elevates one's visit to the next level. Al fresco dining can be enjoyed out in the restaurant's Mediterranean inspired terrace, which whisks you away on a short holiday without ever leaving the ground.

We dined here on a Tuesday and by 8pm it was packed. Restaurant is small but cozy. Very friendly service. The food was delicious. We had the kashk-e-bademjun and salad shirazi for starters, and the halibut and eggplant stew for main. Both very nice but Halibut was excellent, with perfectly grilled asparagus. We recommend.

I come here often with my family, and I've never been disappointed. The food is always excellent. Ingredients always fresh and very well-prepared.. The owner is almost always in, and he clearly takes pride in his restaurant. Service is attentive and good, as well. Very good value for money. I highly recommend this for anyone in the area (or anyone who loves good, simple Persian food), but you have to book. Also- the fact that the restaurant is always completely full when we go (with mostly Iranians!) says something about it. Size is a problem though, and sometimes it gets a bit busy.

We reserved a table for 7.30. We travelled far to get here and arrived at 7.20 - we were told that the table would be ready at 8.00. This is unacceptable, particularly as there is nothing to do nearby. We left to go to another Persian restaurant in Bayswater. Avoid unless you have time to waste.

The place is cramped but worth it as the food is brilliant - the best I have eaten outside of the Middle East.
Fabulous salads, tiger prawns, filo pastry, dips, breads etc. The trick is to order lots of the starters and sides.
The only slight negative was our waitress was displaying passive aggressive tendencies - presumably because it's stressful being so small and trying to get lots of dishes on tiny tables.

This is a local restaurant for us - we eat there regularly.

Firstly, the food is delicious. Fresh, excellent flavours…. We have a number of Iranian friends who assure us that it is very authentic.

The staff/owner are lovely - we have come to know them well. What I do recognise are the comments about overbooking. It's a small restaurant and there is rarely an empty table. But too often, the table is not ready at the appointed time. Given the lack of bar (and the fact that the local pub isn't particularly thrilling), this isn't acceptable. It seems like others (perhaps not so well known to the owners) have even worse experiences. I wish they would/could double the size of the place. There's certainly demand - and they could offer more consistent service. Would definitely rate a 5 then.

But the food keeps us going back. And it is obvious that most of the clientele are regulars. Fully recommend with the warning above. Incidentally, there is a small courtyard garden which is great on a summer evening. But it seats barely 6-8 people - so make sure you specify when booking.
