I thought I was walking into a run of the mill cafe. The inside is small clean and tidy. It was quite busy but the service was friendly and timely. I had a standard breakfast of bacon egg sausage beans and toast. In all fairness it was very nice. But at £9 not good value. By some distance.

There is only one good thing I can say about this cafe: the service was friendly. Apart from that, the decor is grubby and tasteless, service was very slow, we were the only customers in when we arrived but half the tables weren't cleared and most were still not cleared when we left 25 minutes later. Prices for afternoon tea are above the odds but quality is not - scones with butter and tea/coffee were 10 pounds but the scones were crumbly and therefore hard to butter. They do not make cappuccino. The woman serving was wearing a dirty black apron - white streaks all over it suggest she might have been out the back working with flour. This place really needs to take at itself. Why did we stay? Because it was late in the afternoon and we had walked past a number of places which were full.

We popped in for a coffee and cake. The coffee was terrible and the brownie was so tough that I couldn't get the fork in it (I wish this was an exaggeration but sadly not). Looking at the menu a quiche was £8 and glancing at other people's breakfasts showed anemic sausages and barely toasted bread. The only reason I haven't given this place 1 star is that the girl serving was apologetic about the rock hard stale cake and took it back and off the bill.

We had been elsewhere for lunch and came here for desert. It's a VERY small cramped environment but seemingly always busy
They have coffees of the day today it was a Papua New Guinea one that was lovely and a Rwandan one that was awful, but that's personal taste!
I had a lemon drizzle cake that was good. We saw their menu and a "fry up" is £9 which isn't cheap, so one expects it would be amazing. So as an afterthought ordered a bacon Sarmiento to take away for later (£5) was expecting great things of it! Heavy seeded brown style bread and a mediocre amount of bacon
Overall an average experience not quite matching the above average prices

Dropped by for a cuppa and some cake and was very good. A laid back cafe and not rushed ( not good if you are waiting for a table) . There was a good choice of home made cakes. Coffee was good but the hot chocolate was just average. Cake was good. Courteous staff but take their time so don't come in in a hurry, was perfect for us as we were just chilling like one should do in a cafe.
