I booked the hotel for the proximity to the O2 arena, little did I know,,
the taxi driver did not recognize this hotel but we disembarked on a rainy night and thanks to a very helpful lady, found it on the far side of the EXcel exhibition centre
The staff were very helpful and polite as we checked in. The hotel is a Swedish concern and tend towards recycling and being green.as we got in the lift ,the buttons did not seem to work but a very helpful coupl e advised us that our check in card activated the lift, ditto the lights in the room, this is a great idea to prevent unauthorized people entering and lights being left on inadvertently, but I wish they had old us. The room was stylish,if a bit stark,no pictures. the shower fantastic.so to tea and coffe facilities,,cardboard cups, definately could not be used twice, very sparse with the plastic milk cartons, only two provided and two tea bags, no biccies

Located at the east entrance of ExCeL Centre. Perfect location for those attending conferences or exhibitions at ExCeL. The rooms are good and clean and have a kettle and an iron and ironing board. There are few amenities and the quality is not very high.
DLR connections to the city make travel into town easy (30 minutes).

Hello Houten42,
Thank you for staying with us recently.
At Aloft we believe it is the small amenities that make the difference. You mention the iron&board, kettle and exceptional cleanliness! Thank you for the feedback.
Many of our guests also enjoy the complimentary water, fast&free internet and Bliss bathroom amenities, just to name a few.

We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to ExCeL London, as the only hotel directly connected, it could not be more convenient. See you soon.

Aloft London Excel is easy to locate either by road or by public transport. It is obviously outside the London Congestion Charge zone but it takes just over 20mins to Westminster or under 30mins to Victoria by DLR & tube (1.5 minutes walk from hotel to Prince Regent DLR station). It also has good proximity to M25. Onsite carpark available (£14 per 24hrs).

Room (810) is facing the DLR but it is ok with me and quiet enough. Modern and tasteful décor spacious room with a high level of practicality (desk, sofa) - the layout of the room flows. The air conditioning is relatively good. Good facilities including mini-fridge (like it being empty). The bed is super comfortable. The shower could have been a little more powerful and slightly limited complimentary local tv channels e.g. no itv 3 or film 4. Complimentary Wi-Fi had stable connections. The occasional noise was coming from other guests shutting the doors but it happens almost everywhere, doesn't it? I could also appreciate that other reviewers mentioning about the small towels - it is true that they are comparatively small but big enough for me. The only thing in lack of was the sanitary bags.

The 24-hr gym is of great convenience, so is the 24-hr food corner. I personally quite like the breakfast arrangements as I even used part of the breakfast (any three items plus hot drink) as my lunch. Speaking of catering facilities, I had dinner at the hotel restaurant; the service was good some of the staff were even very friendly however, the food was just not so appetising, a bit in lack of caring.

Most of the hotel staff were very very friendly. There were some minor issues when checking out but no big deal and all issues were resolved. Highly recommended hotel!

Highly recommend except for the breakfast. Management should consider moving breakfast from the lobby, where your breakfast is limited to 3 items, to the restaurant and offering a full breakfast which should be included in the room rate.

Hey Stuart263,
At Aloft London Excel we offer our signature grab&go breakfast from Re:fuel, a concept convenient for to-go or eat-in options. As the hotel we do not operate the restaurant within the same building, but those choices are always available at a supplement charge. Let us know when you are next staying and we will make sure that your reservation reflects your personal preferences for breakfast.

Stayed for a couple of very plesant days.It was very nice with good views, even for London!Very close to the DLR and everything was efficant and clean. A pool and gym on sight also a good not too expensive restaurant which made everything very easyI would go again and loved the deal that made it a good price too!!

Room Tip: try and get a room that looks over the water it is well worth the asking, you only have DLR and road...

Hello Annabelweldon,
Thank you for sharing, it sounds like the Aloft concept worked for you. We call this an easy-breezy stay and we believe that a beautifully designed hotel does not have to be expensive.
Thank you so much for the perfect score, we can't wait to welcome you back.

Small modern bedroom which sadly over looked the busy DLR.Breakfast is very disappointing and not worth the money.
Staff were very friendly and efficient although we were suprised that the bar did not open untill 5pm and after traveling on trains etc all day we were looking forward to a drink before heading off to the O2 so instead we dumped our bags and headed off towards the venue.
Bed was comfortable and shower room very good as were all the amenities in the room.
All in all this hotel is value for money

Room Tip: Ask for one not over looking the DLR

Great to hear that you enjoyed your visit and the event at the O2. Aloft London Excel is perfectly located for a trip to the O2, many of our guests are combining events there with a short stay.

My company had 8 rooms at this hotel in January for BETT and we just booked 12 rooms for January 2014. This hotel was great except for one issue that my team unanimously complained about. The breakfast was awful! We were able to pick 3 things a la cart and it was extremely limited and not at all filling.
Were it not for this issue, this would be a 5 star rating.
I can only hope the breakfast options improve before January 2014.
