Owner description: Once the West End's most salubrious cottage, supposedly the haunt of Wilde, Orton, Gielgud & Crisp, CellarDoor is now London's cult cabaret bar, secreted beneath the Aldwych in a space just big enough for cats (both feline and human) to swing. We're open until 1AM seven nights a week with free acts from 9PM each evening including drag queens, femme fatales, magicians, crooners, burlesque beauties & more.

“Seductively superb”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

my husband took me for my birthday and I loved it. Intimate venue with a buzzing vibe and energy. The bar staff were amazing and every move they made was with flair and skill, from mixing a cocktail to wiping the bar. I couldn't take my eyes off them...well until the DJ and burlesque act came on that is!!!! All this topped with great snuff, amazing cocktails and endless free popcorn led to a unique and thoroughly superb evening. Oh and the doorman was so friendly ..everyone should go... Even just to experience toilets but I will let you discover this little gem yourselves.

“Best cocktail bar in the world. Nuf said.”
Reviewed October 26, 2011

This tiny, tiny intimate venue will make you the best cocktails in the world. That is all you need to know... it's also an adorable burlesque bar with funky music. Snacks are tasty too. I wish I lived next door.

“A real Shanghai Surprise”
Reviewed February 27, 2011

We went along Valentines weekend for the Shanghai Afternoon tea..... definitley wirth the visit.

Set in a former gents public loo, a rumoured 'haunt' of Oscar Wilde, at the top of the Strand (right by the Lyceum Theatre), this intimate venue is a hidden gem. Somthing classily seedy about the place, the whole afternoon was just great fun! Two great burlesque dancers (one of which took a comedic line) and a great singer (Hannah), there's also a casino table to while away your time.

Great for groups of girls or couples.... not the thing for dirty old men..... this is a real treat :-)

Hot Tip - ask for the full cocktail list.... they are masters of mixology!! If you love sour, gin based cocktails, opt for the Collins, it's just heaven!
