“A thoroughly enjoyable evening!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

I attented this tour after reading the favourable reviews on this site. The tour commences at 7.30pm although I would recommend you arrive at least 10 minutes early. Due to problems with my travel card ticket my friend and I arrived slighly late at aldgate station and thought we had missed the group, however, fortunately for us an employee of the tour came back to the meeting point to check for any late arrivals. So whatever you do don't leave if you arrive slighly late, someone will come back to collect you. The tour itself was great and the images projected on to the walls were an added bonus which served to immerse you in the story and imagine london back in the late 19th century. If you go on one jack the ripper tour whilst in london this should be it!

“Excellent and informative walking tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

When I and some friends were planning a long weekend in London recently we were stuck for something to do on a Sunday evening. Looking at the various walking tours on line I found The Jack the Ripper with Ripper Vision site. I was particularly struck by the high ratings for this particular tour so booked it at £9 per head. We were required to meet outside Aldgate East (exit 3) underground station at 7-30 which is right next to an art gallery. the tour took 1 hour and 45 minutes and was quite simply excellent. The guide on the night was someone named Greg and he took us through the story of Jack the Ripper and the various locations in a highly professional manner. His delivery was undertaken with enthusiasm and authority and held our interest from start to finish. Using a small hand held projector Greg supplemented his talk at each murder location with pictures thrown onto walls etc. As must be expected there is now little in terms of buildings etc of what would have been around when the murders took place. You must use your imagination to visualise what things might have looked like. The projected images were very helpful in this respect showing in some cases original photographs superimposed on the newer buildings. Some of the original victim photos are of course unpleasant but Greg made frequent reference to the health and circumstances of the victims which put in sharp focus the terrible conditions in which they lived. It is a longish walking tour but nothing the average person would find excessive. Do not confuse this walking tour with similar tours, this is the one to go on ......really excellent.

“A Night with Jack”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

We decided to book a private tour for 20 people. Richard our tour guide was very enthusiastic, knew his history and even looked like the detective who investigated the murders back in 1888. Richard had a projector which showed images of how the area would have looked and the gruesome murders. With some of the streets still as they were, the dark and rainy night, led to a fantastic tour where you actually felt you went back in time, waiting for Jack to jump out from the dark shadows! We felt very safe and learnt a little of London's gruesome history. Highly recommend this tour with Ripper Vision.

“A spooky and gruesome evening!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

An enjoyable evening...although quite gruesome, including some quite disturbing images so not for the faint-hearted! We had John and Miguel who were fantastic. John's historic facts were well delivered and his enthusiasm was catching. Miguel was so convincing as a random drunk that most of us tried to ignore him at first until we saw he was dressed in 1800 clothing! Rippervision itself was not used as much as i'd imagined but when it was it was a good effect. We didn't visit all the murder sites which was a bit disappointing but some are further away so I guess that's just practical. The only other downside was the group size, it was 30 people plus so slightly irritating to try to hear and stand near the guide etc. I would definately go when the evenings are drawing in as I think it added to the atmosphere a lot. It took just over 2 tours from start to finish and there is a fair bit of standing about so I suggest a warm coat, gloves etc. A curry on brick lane after is a natural progression as you smell the curry walking around on the tour! Overall would definately recommend!
