Description: The charmingly eccentric India Club Restaurant has remained much the same since its opening in 1946. Hidden up a flight of stairs, India Club is one of London’s best kept secrets. Enter a timewarp, with portraits of the Independence era on the walls, bottle-green leather chairs, red lino flooring and wooden laminate tabletops. It is a British curry house of the first generation. Authentic ‘home cooked’ South Indian cuisine at extraordinary value makes India Club an unforgettable dining experience.

It depends. That is exactly how I felt. After having ate at couple other Indian establishments in London, this restaurant certainly has much lower prices. We felt it was homestyle cooked food with good taste. So the food taste is not like your typical north indian establishment with creamy gravies. The ambience is austere and remains in the 1950s era - the walls, the tables, chairs, etc. The service is friendly, smiling and really nice. Found it quirky that the restaurant management welcomes customers to bring their own beverages/alcohol. Saw other customers bring their own drinks and taste appetizers before ordering the main course. If you are NOT a regular eater of Indian food, you will be disappointed. Don't come here. For palates with experience in a wide range of Indian curries, this is certainly worth a visit.

Had been looking forward to eating in this restaurant for a while after reading about it in a book of London.
Service very good but food very mediocre .Arrived at opening time to listen to other guests raving about the food so felt very optimistic what a disappointment . You could get a better curry at Asda!

Based on earlier TripAdvisor reviews we chose to eat at The Indian club and were extremely disappointed... in fact, this became the worst food experience that I've ever paid for. I wonder who has written all the positive reviews, I wasn't able to find anything even remotely positive about this place. I'd be ashamed to serve this kind of food at this price... or at any price. Compared to this, McDonald's deserves four stars.

This restaurant is quite hard to find with only a small board on the pavement to advertise it's presence. The restaurant was quite busy so people do find it or regularly return. It is on the first floor adjacent to or above the Hotel Strand Continental and the layout and decor are primitive. It is difficult to understand how premises in such a prime location are in such poor order considering how high the rents must be. This is a 'restaurant' from the world of formica and 1960's cafes. It is very basic. If this is a novelty for you then you will love the less classy restaurants in Bradford.
Having said all this I went for the food and we chose the set meal for two at £14 pp. Three courses including poppadums, rice and chapattis. It was average but then again I normally have Bradford on my doorstep and so my curry standards are high. For most London locals and tourists then I'm sure they will not be disappointed.
