Description: One of the leading Indian Takeaway & Dine In Restaurants in Battersea, SW11 3JR. We offer the varied delicious tastes and cuisines of India, from homes, wayside stalls and palaces presented in style, retaining its authentic nature. REAL Indian cuisine - which is the specialty of the Varanasi Chefs - is distinctive. It is exotic, aromatic and flavourful, relying on a subtle blend of herbs and spices, and provides an interesting contrast with Curries - the sauce based foods, Chats - the Indian street foods and with Tandoori- the clay oven foods

“Excellent food, great service, amazing value!”

Varanasi is our favourite local restaurant. The food is always excellent, the staff are very friendly and with a Tastecard it can be extremely cheap. Highly recommended!

“Great Indian Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

Among the better Indian restaurants in London. Their stater 'Banarasi Papri Chaat' is particularly excellent, and almost as authentic tasting as you may find. The 'Dal Makhani' is another favourite dish we've had here several times.

“Great service and atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

We got a take away from Varanasi chefs in January and the food was delicious, fresh ingredients and packed with flavour and the nice thing was that it wasn't greasy. We went to the restaurant the other night to have a meal there and the food had changed completely! We ordered 2 main dishes and 2 side dishes and they were all creamy. I don't mind the odd creamy dish on a menu but there was no mention of it. I was really disappointed with the food as it was nothing like it was a few months ago.

I do think this is a result of people complaining that the food is too spicy. And even worse that people don't like spicy food but go to an Indian restaurant. Obviously they've had to cater for the local market which has compromised on the flavour of the food.

My partner absolutely loved the dishes though and the service was friendly and great.

“Top tips for visitin Varanesi Chefs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

Tip 1: Please make sure that you visit the restaurant during 2 for 1 dinner night. Its not worth the full price

Tip 2: One thing to mention is the bill will have a 12% service charge.

Tip 3: The quality of the food is just so-so, I wouldnt say that its top-notch. We ordered a Fish Curry and Lamb Curry and thought they were alright but not fantastic.

Tip 4: Also please be informed that the service is really slow in this premise. We suspect that maybe they want their customers to order more entrees while waiting for their mains. And if you want to hurry your order, you always can't seem to find the waiter. He seemed to dissappear into the kitchen all the time.

Tip 5: Most of the customers come here because they have a discount Tastecard. Without the Tastecard, you would have to pay full price which is notworth it at all! Find a friend who has a Tastecard so that you can pay half price for your mains. Its pretty easy to get a Tastecard for free in London. Just join their mailing list!

Tip 6: Also they serve you free starters like pappadums with dips but make sure that you do not order any pappadums because they actually charge you £2 for each pappadum.

Tip 7: The only thing that attracts us was the ambience. It has a fine dining ambience and other than that, not a very special place.
