Description: Located in picturesque Strand-on-the-Green, with plenty of outside seating to take advantage of the views of Kew Bridge and the Thames, Cafe Rouge Kew Bridge is a stunning place to eat. To suit such a beautiful location - we have a beautiful menu! Filled with delicious innovative takes on the classics and dishes inspired by different regions of France. Slightly east of the restaurant, Strand-on-the-Green becomes a footpath that runs downstream alongside the river, joining up to Thames Road on the other side. Roughly in the middle of this section of footpath, in the River Thames, is the heavily wooded Oliver's Island. In the 18th century, a tollbooth was built on the island and charges were made to barges and other craft to allow them to pass.

The location of this restaurant is truely lovely, u can have a nice meal then go for a stroll along the Thames after to work it off. Nabbing a seat on the terrace overlooking the river is fantastic!! The food is pretty average & could definitely be updated to be made fresher & have more flavours put in it. Staff are polite & attentive.

We invariably eat here when we visit the area, 3/4 times a year. We had a table booked for Saturday night and the place was buzzing. I am not impressed by the "Summer" menu and the prices have increased. The staff seem to be more Eastern European than French and it has lost its je ne sais quoi. However, the service was not al that extended by the full house and the Tesco vouchers help.

We were wondering where to go for a healthy supper and a friend said that Cafe Rouge now had sub 600 calorie courses so we thought ' how bad can it be', well it was truly awful.

We arrived and the restaurant floor was covered in old food as if a coach full of 5 year olds had just left. The surly waitress then offered us the worst table in what was otherwise a fairly empty restaurant.
Having ordered a steak and the halibut we waited and we waited and we waited and after we had almost started eating the table the food arrived. Well a greasy tough steak and a small bowl of oily dressing laden limp salad arrived . The fish was no better and tasted as if it had been drenched in oil and we suspected had not seen the sea for some time!
By this point we just wanted to leave and could not get the bill fast enough. Take our advice and never go to cafe rouge unless you dont like your date or you are testing out a new denture glue.

Not fantastic but ok for a quick dinner or a nice lunch. Lunch prices are very reasonable and the food is tasty enough. Service is fine and the best feature is the little sun terrace overlooking the river if you are lucky enough to get a table.
