Description: A short wander down Whitehall from Trafalgar Square brings you to the very heart of England: The Clarence! An elegant and indeed damned fine traditional British pub which has a fair claim to being the Prime Minister’s local, The Clarence embodies all that is great about British hospitality – hearty traditional food, delicious drinks and the warmest of welcomes. Fine traditional British pub fare is given the treatment it deserves by our crew of talented chefs who turn fresh seasonal ingredients into something akin to a little slice of heaven. Aside from the delicious lunch and dinner menus with their ever-changing accompaniment of specials we have beautifully crafted events menus which run from delicate canapés to glorious feasts and everything in between.

“Great food and friendly service.”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

Great location on Whitehall close to many major sights. The food is always freshly cooked and served piping hot.
Drink prices about the norm for the area. The Manager is a friendly soul and seems to keep his ship running smoothly.
ALWAYS a busy place though so be warned. If you are happy drinking stood up elbow to elbow thats fine. If you want eat then I suggest you reserve a table.

“Cosy, friendly and welcoming pub”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

Surrounded by a number of generic and overpriced tourist pubs, the Clarence offers a nice change in the heart of Westmister. Good, uncomplicatded food menu, excellent wine selection and friendly staff.

“Better than expected”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Considering the very central location, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service and the quality of their fish & chips. Average prices at £42 for 3x meals with coffee.

“Great lunch”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Hot mulled cider was the perfect antidote to the cold weather outside, and the cheese sandwich with Branston pickle was wonderful.
We enjoyed this pub so much we returned for another visit a few days later!
