“Bad value for money”

On arrival at home after 3pm our rooms were still not ready and the receptionist could not tell us how long rooms would take she didn't even ring housekeeping until I insisted that she would so that we had an idea how long it would be. I booked a twin room and a double room and rang the hotel the day before arrival to request that we would get these room close together and was told no problem, however when we arrived we were told that it was 2 twin rooms that they were preparing for us. They had my request there but was told that the nearest we could get these type of rooms was twin room on 2nd floor and double room on 7th floor (smoking room) but if we wanted to upgrade for £30 extra per night (we stayed 4 nights) that the rooms were available immediately! At this stage we said we would accept 2 twin rooms but still didn't know when they would be available. After waiting for an hour we were so tired that we decided that we would upgrade just to get a room we spoke to a different receptionist and she found us a twin and double room on the same floor without upgrading!!!!! As you can imagine that wasn't a great start to our trip. Where the rooms were very clean they were very small, the bed wasn't the most comfortable and the television didn't work very well it kept cutting on and off. We ate in the restaurant one night, the food was nice but nothing exceptional and it was extremely expensive. The bar was also expensive even for tea or coffee. Where the location of the hotel was excellent that was all it had going for it.

Very nice lobby, and fast check in. Room was very clean and tidy with a great view. Bathroom was a little "compact and bijou", but did the job. The breakfast is very, very good, and the Breakfast service staff, were efficient and friendly. A great place to stay.

We have stayed here for a short break over a week-end. The location is great, next to the Regents park and by the tube station which is very convenient... The place is very warm and welcoming, even thou it was quite busy. We were offered an upgrade on the check in and we took " The Level Executive room" that comes with an access to the Lounge where complimentary breakfast, beverages (including alcohol) are served. As well as nice Tapas in the evening - great snacks with the drinks !! And all for £45 only, for 2! Great value! Ask reception if there are deals available.. Room was very nice and the bed was huge! Beautiful bath robes as well that you can actually buy with the hotel logo.. And there is a pillow menu in the room, so you can choose the pillow you sleep on !! Actually, we have really enjoyed it, will be back!!

Well maintained property, with posh linen and a good breakfast spread. However, most rooms are small, as are the bathrooms. Could also get a bit noisy if the room's near the liftwell. The hotel offers smoking rooms as well and so make sure you get a non-smoking room unless you don't mind a room that smells stale. The hotel's near Regents Park, Great Portland Street station and a Tesco, which is handy.

The Melia White House is odd, but in a good way. A little piece of Spain in London, owned by a Spanish company, staffed by Spanish speakers and apparently frequented by Spaniards and Latin Americans. We've stayed several times before. Everytime we check in, the receptionist asks if we would like to upgrade, we always say no but we get upgraded anyway. I don't think that they actually have any basic rooms - has anyone ever seen one? Our room was on the second floor overlooking the main entrance. Traffic noise wasn't a problem but the sounds from the next door room was. The guests weren't particularly noisy but we could hear their conversations and some very loud snoring during the night. Maybe we were just unlucky as I don't remember noise being a problem on previous stays. Breakfast is great - we had it included in the price of the room. The guys at the concierge desk are very helpful and good at directions, geting taxis and finding lost gloves. The bar is entertaining. Sadly we didn't see any mice but we did see a Columbian duet doing covers of Shakira songs. The location of the hotel is great, tube station across the road and bus stops near by.

What a shame!... First impression was very good, I was sitting at the bar with friends enjoying nice live music when we saw one little mouse running between our feet! Then another two joined! we were shocked, I complained but it seemed to be quite natural to all the personnel in the hotel. When I checked out, the coordinator at reception did not believe me for the mice and she said she had to check with the bar personnel. I asked for a discount, but I didn't get one penny, as they assured me that the hotel "was taking hygiene very seriously". I told them that if they were doing that they should have shut down the bar. Just think: What if mice were in the kitchen which is on the same level? Would you like to eat, stay there?"
So many hotels in London... Just go to another one.

I had never been to London before and stayed for two nights. The location of the hotel is exellent, a short walk to Oxford Street. It has great facilities within the hotel with a cafe, gym, bar and saunas. Staff are helpful and polite and i throughly would recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy a luxurious stay in London.
