“Fantastic customer service !”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Great location, really close to Buckingham Palace. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel extremely welcome and the customer service was great. Ate in The Library Restaurant - food and service were excellent, as was the wine list. Afternoon tea was also great !
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for location and price, but most of all for customer service which is the best that I have experienced in any London hotel.

We stayed at the Rubens hotel at the end of June this year. We were over for a special occasion at the palace and Rubens made the occasion even more special. It's in a fab location near to Victoria station and overlooking the palace. The rooms are small but then that's what you expect in London. They are beautifully decorated and very comfy beds! Breakfast is fabulous with chef cooking eggs whichever way you like. Lots of choice of fresh fruit and cereals. We were not in the hotel a lot as we packed a lot of sight seeing in but the staff we met were very nice and helpful. I would definately
reccommend the Rubens to stay in. It's old London if that makes sense in a fabulous location.

I read many hotel reviews on Tripadvisor while planning our trip to London but kept going back to the pictures of the Rubens. I'm so very glad that I booked directly with them on their website.
We arrived on July 1. The occasion was a BIG birthday that I wanted to celebrate with my daughter and granddaughter.
The staff at the Ruben's made our trip quite memorable with all of their help and hospitality.
We had a beautifully decorated junior suite on the 4th floor overlooking the Royal Mews which is part of Buckingham Palace. Be sure to tour it and see the magnificent horses and the Royal carriages that are housed there. Especially, the golden carriage that carried Diana to Westminster. Stunning when seen in person.
After a full day of sightseeing, we felt as if we were going home when we stepped back into the Ruben's lobby because we were always greeted with smiles and inquiries as to how we enjoyed our day.
Dave, the delightful concierge, helped guide us to the best On-off tour and made various arrangements for us throughout our stay. Thank you again, Dave!
Janine Mallia, with Guest Services, helped answer my questions with clear and helpful information before I even arrived and was so thoughtful to leave a plate of sweet treats and a Happy Birthday greeting in our room when we arrived.
From this location, it was a short walk to Victoria Station, also to, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. It was less than 5 minutes to walk to the Palace gates to watch the changing of the guard, and, 10 minutes to walk to the Wellington Barracks, (less crowded) to see the replacement guards at 11:00-11:15 march up to the Palace.
Be sure to have a breakfast at the Rubens. It was hearty and complete with every possible choice of eggs, meat, potatoes, fruits, cereals, coffee cakes and more. The Dining room is lovely and the service was excellent.
We had several glasses of bubbles on our last night in the charming Leopard Champagne Bar. There's a good piano player every evening in the regular bar.
I wish I had some pictures to add to this review. Hopefully I can place them later.
One more tip, if you plan to go see the Harry Potter tour at Warner Bros. Studio, be sure to book it weeks before you go to London.
Many thanks to the Rubens at the Palace and it's staff. We will be back!

Room Tip: There is construction going on at the intersection side of hotel. We overlooked the Queen's Mews...

We stayed here one evening after a 10 day London/Cornwall vacation waiting for our flight home to the US. The room was very, very clean and had plenty of room. It was also very quiet and peaceful where we stayed. We also enjoyed the Continental Breakfast which was good. All the staff were very attentive, called in to make sure the room was to our liking, and overall you can see that attention to detail is the norm at the Rubens. Would recommend staying here again to friends and family. Only issue we had was that the clock was wrong on the television in the room (it was about 30 minutes behind) which would have been an issue if we didn't have our own clock with the correct time and needed to be at the airport at a certain time.
Cannot say enough about how courteous and helpful the staff were! Hopefully I can return again and stay longer!

Room Tip: If you want a good view while here, pay for the higher priced rooms. The lower cost rooms appear to...

We really enjoyed this hotel. The room was very nice, and the hotel location is perfect for the tourist oriented visitor (very near Victoria Station). The staff were generally very helpful, although some of the concierge recommendations for restaurants were a bit weak. In fact, the only real complaint was the lack of decent dining options nearby. Even the nicer places had very bland food at exorbitant prices. But no significant complaints about the hotel itself. We recommend it and will stay there again. Be prepared to pay relatively high prices for the proximity to the Palace and Westminster areas, but we anticipated that for such a central location.

We took our 16 year old daughters to London for their birthday from Texas and from the moment we arrived everything was perfect. The Rubens has the perfect location, close to everything, the staff was friendly and attentive, especially Dave Brown, Marta Miziolek and the manager of the hotel Malcolm Hendry. We had afternoon tea and it was also perfect and I would highly recommend it. Great restaurants close by (all recommended by Dave), try the Quilon for Southwest Indian cuisine which is walking distance and was amazing. Perfect hotel not to big and not to small. Thank you Rubens for a wonderful stay!!!

My friend and I spent the week end in London, arriving friday and leaving sunday, to assist to the Coronation Festival in Buckingham Palace.
There was no refrigerator in the room which was quite on the smaller side, just enough space to go around the bed and had to move an armchair form the window side to have a little more space, compared to the last time we were at the Rubens in september 2012. I have to conceed that we were then spoiled, receving a upgraded room in the "Royal Wing"... which was impossible this time I presume, the hotel being fully booked.
Otherwise, English brekfeast perfect, the staff were as usual always ready to help and answer any question.
Anyway, we will come back soon, The Rubens being a must when spending some holyday in London
