Such a special stay at the Rubens Hotel! Immediately before even stepping foot inside the hotel, my boyfriend and myself felt that this hotel gave a little extra. The Rubens Hotel gives one that individual attention, and one does not feel like just an other number when staying here. Immediately you are welcomed at the door and assistance is constantly provided to you. At reception we were greeted and checked in by the lovely Ilona, always with a smile on her face spoke very well and ensured that we had everything needed for our stay. Our room was lovely, over looking great views, very clean and decorated to perfection. We were treated particularly with extra care by Janine, one of my family members who I booked the hotel through, offering us complimentary drinks by the bar along with cookies and a lovely personalized welcome letter to the Rubens hotel. Janine ensured that we were always happy and took so much care of us, even sending us some lovely breakfast to our room the following day! The room was always kept extremely clean and we had everything we needed there. Breakfast was also exceptional, once again we were given that extra special attention by all the staff, and ate very well too. Throughout our short stay we were constantly pampered by Janine, who is such a friendly and welcoming person, The hotel is very central in London and only a few minutes walking distance from the Victoria Station. I would definitely recommend the Rubens to anyone visiting London, here you will definitely feel right at home and treated like royalty. This was our first time visiting the Rubens but will definitely not be our last!

The location is great...right across from Buckingham Palace Royal Mews. It is a 5 minute walk to Victoria Station and also right around the corner from many restaurants, Victoria Palace (Billy Elliot - must see!) and Apollo Theatre (Wicked - must see!).

The staff will go to great lengths to make your stay wonderful. Every request we made was honored with a smile. The night we got there a thank you card with a box of cookies were delivered as a thank you for staying.

Best thing: The Canapes that are delivered each evening!!! What a surprise! And they were GOOOD.

We were traveling with our 16 month old and they all knew his name and greeted him each time we appeared in the lobby or for breakfast. The breakfast staff were always extra helpful. We also ate dinner there one evening and it was fantastic. We loved having a doorman to call taxis for us so we could stay warm until it was ready.

We stayed in a junior suite which was nice and spacious. My 16 month old loved playing in the tiny closets like they were his own little apartment.

Complaints: terrible view of a dirty rooftop outside and construction. We reserved a king sized bed b/c we co-sleep with our baby but the bed was not a king...it was two twin beds connected together which left a very uncomfortable gap and ridge in the middle where he sleeps. The walls are thin and the hotel offers 24 hr room service. So in the middle of the night we repeatedly heard knocking and yells of 'room service' to other rooms down the hall. When my baby napped in the late afternoon we would put our 'do not disturb' sign on the door so housekeeping would (instead of knocking) call our room to see if we wanted it clean. This woke up the baby. We told housekeeping this but they did it again the next day. We did bring this to the manager's attention and that was fixed from that point on and was much appreciated.

This hotel is seriously awesome. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. The personal attention and sincere efforts to please us during our stay were absolutely wonderful. We considered the complaints listed above small compared to how wonderful the hotel and hard working staff were.

Room Tip: Junior Suite is spacious. Ask to see if you can get a nicer view than what we had in room 305.

From the moment that Nathan opened the door to us we were made to feel very special. The children were whisked off by Laura for their very own check in, and that gave us some indication that this hotel is not just a haven for adults but paradise for the children. From cookies and milk delivered to the room to the wonderful time they spent with Francesco decorating cup cakes in their Rubens chefs whites (see pictures) the children enjoyed every minute. There are just too many people to thank; Dave for playing with the childrens new toys, to Adele, Laura and all of Malcolms team they really made our stay so special. For adults there is a lovely peace and tranquility about the Rubens that is reflected by the staff who never seemed stressed but always deliver a high level of customer service, attention to details is first class. We stayed for two nights then went to Euro Disney, the children said they couldn't wait to get back to the Rubens with our 5 year proudly announcing that the Rubens was epic, that might have been to do with the fact they offered a great movie snack selection to accompany the films you could watch in your room. We were greeted on our return like old friends. We will be back without a doubt. Whatever your reason for staying we cannot recommend this hotel enough, it goes without saying that if you are bringing children they will be welcomed with open arms and treated as one of the family but its a top class hotel, unruly badly behaved children would be out of place in this hotel and would definitely upset the peace and tranquility that you get when visiting with or without children.

Another stay at the Rubens, and it just gets better every time. On entering we were welcomed by name and the reception staff and door persons treated us as if we were just back from a long trip away. We truly felt like one of the family, and our own family who arrived later in the evening to meet up with us were made to feel just as welcome.

The room was beautifully decorated, muted yet bright, and our suitcases arrived in the room before we even got there, with no word from ourselves. The doggy treats were very well received by Eddie our dog, and special mention must be made of the home made heart shaped doggy sweets left for him on his bed. They didn't last long!

The room was beautifully clean and all the linen was crisp and white. The bathrobes were ample in size, some you get in other hotels would only just fit around Kate Moss at a stretch. There was no noise at all in the room, and the temperature just right, so sleep came easily.

It is hard to pick out just one member of staff who excelled above the others, as they are all so professional, maybe I can just mention our breakfast waiter, I think he was called Miguel. He was very helpful and cheery, suggesting items which we had never been offered before. You had the feeling that he was there if you needed him, but he was also discreet in his presence.

Some hotels you visit have very different experiences at, depending on whom is on duty, but there is the same high level of service at each stay at the Rubens, which makes you feel very secure in your choice of hotel. It's just a shame that we don't visit London more often, as we would stay there every week if we could!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are off the main road, but even being on the main road you don't hear anything.

A special stay in London for us, saved up so we could stay in a better hotel, and we were extremely pleased with our choice

The room was lovely, everything clean and well organised. All of the staff were attentive, and extremely helpful. The second morning Mark the Food and Beverage manager remembered our names - also his breakfast staff are excellent. The breakfast range was lovely - great range, lovely to have your eggs cooked as you want them, and two types of cooked bacon which suited both myself and hubby.

Bar, concierge, doorman and reception staff were all extremely polite, not overbearing, and helpful if you needed anything.

Great experience, will definitely stay here again in the future.
