My wife and I stayed at the Cranley in march '13. The hotel is easy to get to on the tube from the airport since it is about 3 blocks from the station on the Piccadilly line-(so no changes needed from the airport). The rooms are very tastefully decorated . The bed in our room was a queen and quite comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was small but not cramped and had excellent water pressure. The wifi was reliable (although we had a connection glitch for a couple hrs but they responded right away when it was reported and fixed it). The wifi connection was complementary but needed individual passwords for sign on for each device, but they all worked well.
We didn't get around to enjoying the daily canapes and drinks, but we did ask for the continental breakfast in our room. This consisted of fresh small croissants, juice and coffee, although you can order additional breakfast items for additional cost.
The room was away from the street but the entire area seems quiet and very safe for walking even at night. This part of London is upscale and had many good cafes, pubs and restaurants in easy walking distance. We walked from our hotel to the natural history museum within about 15min (the building itself is a true work of art. It is spectacular inside and the displays rival the Smithsonian in Washington DC). Hyde park is an easy walk as well.
This will be our base for our next visit to London because of the easy walk to the tube and restaurants as well as the helpful , friendly staff, quiet rooms and comfortable beds.

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my mum's birthday, so didn't stay myself, but she had a great time. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful when I was booking, and they made a real fuss of Mum when she arrived, including upgrading her and my dad to a four poster room. Mum said the bed was huge and very comfortable, and the room was lovely. So, although I didn't stay there myself, my experience of dealing with the hotel has been excellent.

We have spent 5 days at this beautiful hotel and it was really amazing, the service was excellent, the staff were very kind, helpful, rooms are very comfortable, clean and elegant. The food was great, we have enjoyed every minute during our stay at The Cranley. The Cranley is located near subway station at Gloucester road and there are many beautiful rastaurants, shops and museums nearby. We would like to recomend The Cranley an we will definitely come back.

The Cranley is a beautiful classic English townhouse that has been painstakingly cared for / restored. There are lovely details such as huge original bay windows that actually open, skeleton keys (they will hold these for you so you don't have to lug them around), high ceilings, beautiful mouldings, tile, etc and WONDERFUL modern bathrooms with the best water pressure I have ever enjoyed in a hotel (and I'm an American!) plus a heated towel rack and Penhaligon toiletries. We did the pre-booking special which saved 20% and so were able to upgrade to a king canopy room--worth every penny. You cannot cancel the reservation, but we simply purchased travel insurance for $100 just in case we had an issue. I can't say enough about the bed--it was crazy comfortable and I wanted to take it home with me. Our room was enormous by London standards and I loved the daisies on the carpet! The Gloucester Road tube station is a five minute walk and is on the Picadilly line, which is a direct shot from Heathrow. Simply buy a Travel card and add two zone 6 trips and you're good to go. We did not do the room service breakfast since it seemed pricey, but also because around the corner are several places to get breakfast (Paul's--my favorite, Starbucks, Caffe Nero, The Stanhope Arms, etc.). Each day when we returned there was a homemade snack waiting for us--brownies, fresh fruit, etc. and each evening from 7-8 they serve champagne and canapes. Couldn't have been better, but really the best part was the staff--Valeria in particular, who went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed and were comfortable and happy. We simply cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: If you can, take advantage of the pre-booking special and buy trip insurance in case you need to can...

We had a fabulous 10 day stay at The Cranley! The service was absolutely amazing!! Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and had a lot of character. This was my 7 year olds son's first trip to London and the Cranley staff treated him like a king! The staff was incredibly helpful in every way; with dining reservations, directions and travel advice. I cannot convey how special our trip was thanks to the Cranley staff! I have never encountered such a well trained, professional and friendly hotel staff. The Cranley is a joy and we cannot wait to return!!!

About a 5 minute walk from Gloucester Road Tube ( Circle, District and Piccadilly,Lines so easy from Heathrow) and near shops and restaurants but on a very quiet, lovely residential street. The hotel is beautifully decorated without being pretentious and the staff are all extremely helpful - plug adapters, printing out boarding passes, getting luggage - nothing was any trouble and they truly seemed happy to be of help. We had 2 single rooms facing the back which were extremely quiet and though small, they weren't claustrophobic thanks to high ceilings and a well chosen colour scheme. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were a perfect temperaure and the bathrooms were small but completely functional with very nice Penhaligon toiletries. Though almost identical, the higher floor room had a better view.
The lobby seating area is extremely comfortable with a fireplace and comfortable chairs and magazines and newspapers and we were served complimentary tea and cookies when we arrived which was very welcome after travelling. We also enjoyed our complimentary champagne there. Each afternoon a small snack (ie brownie or little cake) is delivered to each room (though one of our rooms was missed one day) which was a nice treat upon arriving back tired.
Unusually there is no breakfast room so most guests have their breakfast in their rooms - unless your breakfast is included or you hate to be in public before you've had coffee, you might want to walk out to the main road for breakfast - there is a Paul's, a Starbucks, a Pret a Manger - all serving hotter better coffee and toast. Even if you don't order breakfast, you still get a complimentary newspaper.
2 small things - the safe requires a credit card each time you want to open or close it which is a bore and I feared increased my chances of misplacing my card. To lock the bedroom door when in the room, turn the whole door handle - there is no separate lock (I searched for quite a while). But these are small things - I will go back to the Cranley when next in London.

Room Tip: Higher is nicer.
