The tapas is creative with attention to detail. The only thing that would improve it is keeping it a bit hotter so that you can take your time over each plate. Service is outstanding.

We had not planned to eat here and usually I am rather suspicious of tapas restaurants in London but this worked out very well. We were hungry and had six portions between the two of us all of which were very enjoyable without being spectacular
which together with a bottle of lager and a decent glass of rosé and coffee came to just over £50. It also arrived quickly which is always reassuring when you have a concert to attend.
We ate outside on the terrace which has a view which will not appeal to everybody but at least you are outside which in Central London is unusual.
So, if you are attending the Barbican, give it a go !

The Lounge is easily accessed by lift from the Barbican car park and the restaurant is wheel chair friendly. Comfortable seating is available both inside and outside on the wide balcony/terrace area. On this balmy June Saturday most of the outside tables were taken (worth making a reservation). Unpretentious and yet tasteful decor inside with discreet lighting. Clean, environmentally friendly bathroom. Soft instrumental music in the background.

Welcome and service is very good: warm, watchful but unintrusive, helpful and efficient. Our thanks to all who served us.

Menu and experience:

Nibbles (olives etc) are priced between £3.00 - £4.00. To share carnivore or herbivore platter as well as the Poughman's is priced at £9.50. Side orders (chips, artisan bread, salad) is at £3.50. We opted for the 'small plates' which start from £6.00 (like tapas) and ordered the Moroccan kofta in tomato sauce (delicious although a lot of sauce), caramelised cherry tomato pie (very good), prawns in beer batter with a touch of Thai (succulent and tasty), salad with parmesan and artisan bread (fresh, crusty and tasty).

Other 'small plate' dishes include chicken skewers, lamb meatballs, gazpacho, salmon tart, a variety of bruschetta, prawn and clam stew and crab cakes. Only three dishes available for vegetarians. During weekdays 6 small plates are offered for lunch at £14.95.

There is a small list of desserts at about £6.50. The deep filled lemon tart served with summer berry compote and clotted ice cream was calorific but delicious.

Wine is offered by the glass starting at £5.50 or by the bottle starting at £17.00. We opted for the house wine which was average.

All in all a tad on the slightly expensive side but a good eating experience.

A super spot with tables and chairs lining the windows overlooking the terraced balcony where you can eat outdoors in suitable weather! Lovely view and sunlit pre theatre. The food really surprised us four foodies by being really good. And excellent that each is a small tapas sized plate so that you can choose only one dish or as many as you like. We were delighted with the big tasty prawns, goats cheese and artichoke salad, lamb tagine , spare ribs. All served hot and freshly cooked with small tasty accompaniments. The lemon filled pie with berries was excellent. Pity the ice-cream was too iced! Good wines. Good service. Finished our 3 "courses" comfortably just in time to catch our 7.30 performance. Very relaxing and fun.
