Very good meal - odd but good wine list. Definitely go for the pig skin. Superb. Very quiet wine bar above the restaurant. Secret venue!

“Brown butter and honey pie? Yes yes yes....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

We had lunch here on 3 January before seeing Martin Shaw in 12 Angry Men. Both experiences were excellent. The restaurant was virtually empty but the man on reception bizarrely went to ask if there was a table. It wasn't a good start but from the moment the friendly and knowledgeable waitress greeted us everything was very enjoyable. This must be one of the best value lunches around - £19 for 3 courses - with great value wine too. Try the middlewhite pork with celariac, the squash, goats curd and hazlenut and the excellent beef with beans. Even the home made biscuit with the cheese was exceptional. But what you really must not miss if they have any is the brown butter and honey tart. Sublime. And no, don't go there if you want gravy on your food!

“Still very much "St John" :-)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2014

An oasis of quiet and good food in the otherwise awful surroundings or Leicester Square and therefore very necessary. Glad to see that although the team behind Viajante has taken over, they kept the chefs that worked with Fergus Henderson and the menu is still very much "St John" which means unusual parts of animals and lots of seafood and shellfish to choose from, British cheese and delicious puddings in the form of main courses as well as sharing dishes. Excellent service, friendly, personable and attentive. Highly recommended.

“Rude maître D”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2013 via mobile

Had a pretty good meal there. Roast pork joint was delicious. Asked for some gravy with it and was told if I wanted gravy I should go to Harvester. Quite rude I thought. Don't go there if want friendly service.

“Offally Good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 18, 2013

Had a very enjoyable Saturday lunch here. Delicious and sweet brown shrimp with fennel to start with and devilled venison offal with a real chilli kick to it, beautifully cooked. Also tried the chicken and leek pie and some very pleasant ice cream for dessert. Service was friendly and helpful and for a Michelin starred place it was really not at all expensive. For our visit the restaurant was very quiet (not many Saturday shopper walk-ins but I'm sure its packed most other times, it deserves to be!
