Lucky to get a table on a Friday evening, but the bar seating is just as good as the seating in the main restaurant. Service ultra helpful, be it advice on steaks or wine. Food was sublime. 1Kg prime rib to share between two (couldn't even finish it!), and all the sides were perfect. Crab toast starter and oysters excellent too. No room for pudding!

The bill was rather large - but for food this good and in this location, you have to accept that.

Will be going back very soon indeed.

Visited this establishment with my daughter to celebrate her A-Level Results which got her into St Andrews University.
Had never been before so was not quite sure what to expect - was not disappointed.
We opted to share a 900G Porterhouse from the specials board it was devine.
The sides of mash, chips, and veg were also excellent.
To round it off she had a wonderful chocolate concoction and I had Eton Mess which were also delectable.
The ambience was fine and the service attentive and courteous.

The restuarant itself in down in a large dimly light basement but with a good decor and atmosphere.
Staff have excellent knowledge of the menu and are really helpful if its your first time with the different cuts on the menu and are attentive and friendly during the meal
The fillet steak was cooked perfectly and was the best tasting steak i have ever had and the side dishes tasted just as good. Chips in beef drippings are a must.
Deserts were equally as nice. On the little side but with alot of taste and after the main meal there isnt much room left.
Cocktail list is huge and i can recommend sharing a Lord Byron punchbowl if your there with a partner. Really nice refeshing gin cocktail.
Yes it was a little pricey but well worth it and Im going to find in very difficult to visit London and not come here every time.

We had dinner on 20/8/2011.

The staff was cheerful and very helpful, excellent knowledge of the menu.

We ordered a bottle of wine that tasted corked and it was promptly replaced without much fuss.

We decided to skip the starter as the mains were told to us as large portion.

We ordered the rump, ribeye and uncle had the fillet.

The rump was done just nice and very flavorful, the way aged-dry mature beef should taste, there are some sinews but that's part of eating a rump.

The ribeye was done just nice and succulent, when paired with the peppercorn sauce, perfect.

Uncle's fillet was tender and the best steak he has had for a very long time.

We would have liked to try the daily special cuts but were put off by the size and price. And this being our first visit after a string of so so experience at other fine dining venues, reluctant to splurge. But we can't wait to return with more people and hungry stomachs!

After a wonderful starter of oysters and sausages, three of us shared a 900g steak. The first time it arrived it was cooked to well-done, way beyond the medium-rare we'd requested. This was exchanged in minutes, without question, and the rest of the meal was excellent.
Only criticism would be that the underground dining room can get very loud. Total cost for 3 was £180 with 2 starters, 4 drinks and a dessert
