“good location ,bad servise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2010

Had stayed in this hotel for 4 nights at the end of June. The location of the hotel is good since it is located at small and quet street behind oxford str -the leading road to main attractions ,The tube is 5 mins from the hotel .The stuff at the hotel is cold and polite, yet if you need to operat your computer from your room as we did, you need to pay per the hour. Most similare hotels give it for free ot less money and if you need less then 1 hour you still need to pay it.(few pounds /hour )
The breakfast was english one ,which we do not like, and the breakfast room feels like a big kitchen in factory... so the rest of the mornings we went outside as there are a lots of good freindly italian cafee's with good breakfast instead near by.
If you are looking for clean room, just to take a bath and sleep then this hotel is just fine.
Do not think i will come back to this hotel as i found London very diff from what it was few years ago. There are alots of options if you are looking for good hotel in good price freindly and worm.

The rooms were old and small, the beds small and hard. Walls were thin and could hear the tv and chatting next door. Felt more like a motel than a hotel.

Stayed two nights and found the location very convenient to many of the city sights. To be fair, the staff did everything right and the hotel itself was perfectly decent, apart from normal British hotel foibles like trying to find the light switch, terrible ironing board and so on.

The only negative really was the rather crowded, bunker/like feel of the hotel. It may be due to a desire to wring every last inch out of the floorspace but the lobby was cramped and uninspiring. The bar in the lobby was dark and uninviting and the breakfast room was underground, with tables placed close enough to generate intimacy among neighbours.

The room was quite decent however. The bed was firm and the normal things like TV and internet worked just fine. The main challenge was lack of water pressure. You may need to squat down and then stand up quickly to push up against the water stream and make it appear stronger.

If you just use the room to sleep, the hotel atmosphere does not matter much and these are minor things. But, if you value design or treat hotels as destinations in their own right, you may find better value elsewhere.

Firstly, this hotel enjoys a very good location - right next to Oxford Street, but in a quite street it is perfect for power shopping and relaxing sleep. The rooms are not very big and might need a renovation soon, as the hotel is in a very old building. Nevertheless, the value for money is very good.

The breakfast buffet is great and offers everything - from croissants to more than 7 types of corn flakes, fresh juice, eggs, bacon, coffee, fruits, yogurt etc.

-> recommandable for people, who don't ask for high standards in a hotel.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2010

Spent 5 nights here after spending 4 hectic weeks travelling around Europe, it was a comfortable place to recharge our batteries. Hotel is around 5 minutes walk from Bond Street Tube and 10 minutes walk from Oxford Circus Tube. Hotel is close to major shopping centres (5 minutes walk) such as Selfridges etc. There are also a number of good restaurants and English pubs in easy walking distance.

My partner and I found the Hotel matched our expectations for excellence in cleanliness, friendly staff, ease of check in, quality of meals & breakfast, we were also able to enjoy some of the World Cup games in the comfort of the small Bar near the reception.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Hotel to family and friends and will definitely return to this Hotel.

We went to LOndon for a few days of shopping, and to enjoy a musical. The hotel are clean, as we always expect from Holiday Inn hotels, and have a great location. We culd see Debenhams just down the street from our room window.
The internet conection was however very expensive, the same was a quite average breakfast.
The foreign front staff was always quite busy, and not as friendly as staff at other hotels in the same chain.
The room was recently renovated and was very clean and tidy.
We may consider this hotel for our next shopping trip to London, but will for sure make other internet arrangements.

Short walking distance to Oxford street which is a bonus but when we arrived at 2:30pm (check-in time is 2:00pm) to find that our room was'nt ready, Some of the towels in the room were not clean, and on the second day we had to ask several times for some showergel and shampoo as it was not topped up in the morning. The dining tables were not set out with the correct amount of cutlery, cups etc, we had to constantly ask several times over for the two mornings we stayed there.
It was also difficult to get to sleep as the other residents continuously banged doors so best to take your ear plugs.
When we checked out, the member of staff just checked that we didnt have to pay anymore then took the key cards, no friendly 'did you enjoy your stay' etc
It used to be a pleasure to stay in a Holiday Inn hotel but the standards seem to have dropped, costs have been cut I suppose as the standards of food and the quality of the towels is poor.
