I have to say having stayed in a couple of Holiday Inns we really are taken with the friendly staff, clean rooms and great locations and this hotel did not disappoint us!

We stayed for a weekend after Christmas and had a fabulous time, we made use of the ice machine on the 3rd floor for drinks in our room (you are supplied with an ice bucket to help yourselves!).

The staff were very genuine and helpful, the food at breakfast was delicious, nice selection of fruit, yogurts and of course the cooked breakfast including hash browns - only allowed on holidays! The bar was relaxed and I understand there was a mini gym although we never got that far.

The location is right behind Debenhams, near to House of Fraser and John Lewis and closer to Bond Street than Oxford Circus but neither are far away - depends how heavy the bags you are carrying are and if you have wheels...we got a cab back to Euston (flagged down on Wigmore st) and it was only £9 so same price as single tickets on the tube, much easier.

We will return in the Summer as we could not fault the facilities, service or staff - thank you!

Fantastic location, just a stone's throw from Oxford Street. Brilliant helpful staff, good food and drink, friendly service and perfectly comfortable rooms. What a way to relax during a wonderful winter stay counting down to Christmas! You are close to every possible attraction on foot or public transport. The week I spent in London was the coldest of the year (very seasonal) and the temperature of the room was ideal. I have stayed at many hotels in the city but this has to be my favourite and I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

Room tip: Great Lebanese restaurant/take away 2 min walk away!

this hotel really is the pits - on my second (and hopefully last) stay i checked in and was given a room on the first floor. When i got to the landing i could barely get along the corridor to my room as the builders were in and the hotel thought it was appropriate to empty room(s) and store the furniture in the corridor rendering the fire exit route an obstacle course. It also afforded an unwanted inspection of the state of the furniture and created a dismal impression for anyone checking in. Marvellous!
I went to the front desk to ask why the corridor was effectively blocked (you couldn't get along with any luggage) the duty manager came out and said she didn't know about the situation. Her command of English was poor, but she seemed to understand that fire exits should be kept clear.
To be fair when i returned a few hours later the corridor had been cleared, but this gives you a sense of how the hotel treats guests.

Room tip: book a different hotel

Dear Avonside,

Many thanks for your comments.

At no time was a corridor completely blocked during this period, what was taking place was furniture being moved to another room for storage to enable us to install a new carpet in a guest room where the original carpet had been damaged.

Unfortuantely we have to completely clear the room in order to do this.

Guest safety is paramount to us and we would never leave a corridor blocked.

Regards,
D Melrose

I must spend 20 nights plus here per annum. The location is great for business, shopping and tourism. Good transport links and many good restaurants nearby if you head for Marleybone High St. Many ling serving staff who always go the extra mile.

We booked this hotel through a travel agent at the last minute, as a reasonable priced accommodation for an unexpected trip in the middle of December in London.
The location of the hotel is central and great, just a few minutes walk from Oxford street and Bond station tube which takes you everywhere, but on a side street tucked away from traffic and noise.
The hotel staff was overall very professional and helpful, except from the cleaning maids that made a lot of fuss in the morning while going about their business. The rooms are sufficiently heated, clean and adequate but beaten down and in need of serious renovation. The breakfast buffet was very good and there was a kettle and instant coffee and tea in our room.
There are renovations and works done on the building behind the hotel, so ask for a room facing the street to avoid any noise.
