“Cool place. Excellent food”
Reviewed May 24, 2013 via mobile

Even if you are not a football player or a music star surrounded by super models you will enjoy yourself at this Mayfair venue of Hakkasan. The duck salad was very tasty and refreshing and the turbot fish was done perfectly. We also enjoyed the Dim sum, both the seafood Dim sum and the vegetarian one.
The wine list is impressive so as the cocktails at the crowded bar.

“private perfection!”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

We were lucky enough to be included in our friend's surprise birthday celebration at Hakkasan. It was amazing - if you didn't know where you were going might be difficult as the only clue was a doorman! but this just set the scene for a great evening.
We were using the private dining room and the service, food and atmosphere was just perfect! The staff were very attentive but left us alone to enjoy our evening, and for an small group it was lovely - when we arrived we had cocktails at the bar and the restaurant was buzzing - it might not have been so enjoyable if we were trying to talk to each other over the buzz, though this added to the overall ambience of our evening.
Gather it is high end on the price list but we weren't paying that night!

My wife and i had an early dinner booked we arrived half an hour late and before we were sat done we were told we need the table back by 8 so already on the back foot. We ordered the soft shell crab which was very good duck spring rolls also good dim sum excellent the only problem it felt a bit rushed almost like fast-food but with 5 star prices.

“Do not visit Mayfair - go to other branch”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Food is very good, but do not go to this branch. Tottenham court road is far better.

The staff are absolutely dreadful. I don't think i have ever been to any restaurant, especially one of this supposed quality, where most of the members of staff are this rude. We arrived to meet the 7 people standing downstairs in reception (mainly doing nothing), and spoke to the lady on reception who was the first part of the horrendous evening - she was just plain rude and not remotely welcoming for a restaurant of this type. I told her my friend booked the table, gave the name and said i believe it's for 6 or 7 people. She replied "sorry do you not even know how many people is it for? 7 or 8". I was astonished that anyone would speak to a guest like this, esepcially when you just walked in.

Once we arrived within 20minutes we were told about the 2hr policy and how we had to leave shortly, so should hurry up and order. Subsequently we were brought the same dishes twice, with no apology or admission of any wrongdoing. Then as we were paying for the meal the person holding the card machine shouted at one of my table to "not touch the machine" after she had typed in her pin. I've never seen or heard anything so ridiculous. To cap this off, we stupidly agreed to pay the service charge and then spoke to the moronic manager, who proceeded to smile and laugh whilst we explained why we were dissapointed with the service. I will never be going back to this restaurant again. i strongly advise not going there either as you will see how poor the service is.

I honestly think Alan Yau would be dissapointed to see what has become of his restaurant.

“Mayfair "Fast Food"”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

We were invited to Hakkasan to celebrate a very good friends birthday. We arrived at 8pm and were reminded that we only had two hours before we would be ejected from our table. The four of us had a hugely enjoyable meal with a bottle of champagne to start and 2 bottles of excellent (but hugely overpriced) wine to follow. The sommelier was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The food was really very good - particularly good dimsum, beef in Merlot and Chilean sea bass. However, the moment we finished starters, main course arrived and the moment we finished main course desert arrived. In fact half way through desert we were asked if we would like coffee and would we mind if they prepared the bill - it was of course 9.50pm ! ..............We passed on the coffee. To me it felt disappointing to be rushed from our table. I wanted to spend another half an hour or so having a coffee and chatting to our friends. Having eaten and drunk our way through the best part of £200 a head this spoilt what was otherwise an extremely enjoyable evening. We called in at Browns for a few drinks on the way home and were treated like valued customers once again !
