Description: Bumpkin restaurant is a new thing, a country-in-the-city organic eatery thats opened its doors on the Old Brompton Road in Londons South Kensington. Bustling with an art-collecting, sports-jacket-wearing local crowd, Bumpkin is a warm and cosy restaurant that has been decorated with farmhouse-chic furniture and eclectically upholstered chairs to relax in while you watch the chefs create their magic in the open-plan kitchen. The classic British cuisine revolves around the availability of fresh market ingredients, so the menu at Bumpkin changes frequently with sumptuous daily special as well. Apart from olive oil, all the ingredients on Bumpkins menu are one hundred percent British. Signature dishes include a variety of organic pies, gourmet salads and grilled fish accompanied by an excellent selection of wines, ciders and real British ales. We love this local gem, and it's an ideal spot for post-shopping salads, Sunday roasts and Bloody Marys, and organic on-the-run snacks.

“Lovely Mothers Day Treat”

Food was scrummy, staff were friendly. Children welcomed. Ate the brunch/breakfast - a full English. Set us up nicely for a visit to the Natural History Museum round the corner.

“Tremendous real English food”
Reviewed April 5, 2013 via mobile

Excellent pies, all of us had good meals, creamy fish pie was delicious, chips (in duck fat) the same. Only negative was it was very busy and noisy, but to be expected in a popular restaurant. Recommended for basic, high quality, food that your mother used to make

Had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant, fantastic a real taste of what the UK has to offer, using seasonal produce. A very pleasant experience in great surroundings. Will be back again and again.

“Disappointed by the food”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

After reading all the good reviews we were really disappointed when tasting the food. The blue cheese croquette did not taste of cheese at all, the triple duck fat fried chips were not different than regular fries, my bone marrow was served grossly undercooked, the potato mash had a sour aftertaste, onion pie undercooked etc. etc.

When we pointed some of these out to the staff, all we got was a waiver of the service charge. At 30 quid a head without wine I would expect better. Won't be back.

“Cosy & Fresh”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Very warm and cosy little spot. They take pride on using local seasonal ingredients. We had carrot-ginger soup, a scrumptious goat cheese and beet salad, comforting mac & cheese bake and grilled salmon. Everything was delicious and carefully prepared. Worth a try.
