“Do not stay here !!”

Overnight stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The hotel was filthy and in a desparately bad state of repair, food poor and staff overworked and disinterested.

Since departing I have written twice to head office with an official complaint sent by recorded delivery and both letters have been ignored. I would at least think a courtesy acknowledgement could have been returned. I guess it shows the comtempt that the owners and management hold their so called valued customers.

I will never return and never reccomend any of the Britannia hotels. Photos also posted on this website.

We stayed one night at this hotel and were very disappointed. The room was ok and had a nice shower and bed but the decor was badly in need of updating and the desk drawer was literally falling apart. Both the leather sofas in the lounge area were badly damaged with the stuffing spilling out of the seat pads. The wicker tub seats by the door to the terrace were in a bad condition with dirty seat pad covers. The wall by where I had breakfast had plaster missing and the dining room chair cover was dirty and stained. The manager (I took her to be the manager as she was instructing the receptionist) was very frosty. We had dinner on arrival which was a buttet style. The meat had been left out ready sliced and was dry and curling up. On the plus side the receptionist was very helpful and the restaurant staff were lovely - very helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. I was really quite shocked at the condition of the hotel , it is very shabby I would definitely not recommend the hotel to anyone.

i stayed at the Britannia Hampstead hotel in march 2010 as part of a college residential trip, we were in London visiting the theatres and as this hotel was close to the underground station it seemed convenient to stay here for less money as oppose to the ridiculous city centre prices.

i wish i'd stayed in the centre.

when we first arrived at the hotel we were rudely treated and told to sign for our rooms, when going into the room we noticed a horrible damp smell that didnt seem to cease in the 3 days that we were there. also there were chunks missing out of the wall and the windows were impossible to see through. the ceiling of the bathroom had black mould growing above the shower and the wallpaper made my head want to burst! also the towels that were provided were not changed since the previous guest as there was blood on them.

the staff at the hotel treated us rudely and unfairly, for example the bar staff were very rude and treated us as though we were an inconvenience to them for using services that they provide!

all in all i would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed for 4 nights - Room 505 on the Plaza Floor! Spacious room, comfortable bed. Some car parking available (also easy enough to find on street parking overnight). Food was okay if not very exciting. We arrived about 8 pm on our first night and ate in - not much left on the buffet but I suppose we were quite late. Breakfasts okay if nothing special.

After booking we read some of the negative reviews; and having stayed at the Britannia it is difficult to believe that the critics were at the same hotel as we were; as I would be happy to return there in the future.

We checked this review site prior to our visit and were very concerned!!! We even contacted our travel agent who offered an alternative at a much higher price but being on a budget we decided to chance it!!
Although the exterior looked a little tired the welcome from the reception staff was very pleasant and we were given room 514, at the rear of the hotel with a truely magnificent view of London's skyline. The room had been recently decorated although the bathroom was a little ancient, lots of hot water. Breakfast was excellent. Staff extremely helpful and pleasent. The location was first class, very quite with easy walking of Belzise Park, Hamstead and the amazing Camden Town. The West End was 20 minutes away from the hotel by 300 yard walk and tube. We found one of the best chinese resturants we have ever been to within 300 yards of the hotel.
We visit London twice a year and this was the BEST!!!! Thank you Hamstead Brittania.

Stayed 2 nights bed and breakfast. Twin rooms on the first floor were large, clean and nicely furnished. Breakfast was excellent with the highest quality bacon and trimmings. All in all a hotel that more than justifies its 3 star rating and I recommend it.
