“the worst hotel experience in years”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

There was a dried-up stain on the door to the room. We hope is was sputum.
The lock on the door was worn out. Somewhat later I had to call assistance (very friendly) as my key was stuck in the lock and I could not get it out anymore. After a lot of shaking and pushing on the key it came out and the door could be unlocked during the second attempt.

The room was on the backside of the hotel. The windows had not been cleaned for years and the sun shone on the window thus visibility was zero.

In the morning the room was very hot and I do not think that there was an airco or forced ventilation. Anyway at that point we had already decided to leave so I did not check for that.

Toilet seat was loose. The toilet did not flush effectively, requiring filling of a waste-paper bucket from the shower as an alternative.

Breakfast could not be added to the hotel bill but had to be settled on the spot. Friendly staff. Credit card accepted...

Reception staff polite, friendly, helpful.

Room Tip: probably any another hotel will be better.

We booked this hotel through Last Minute .com and were very pleased with it's central location.Sadly it is badly in need of a major refurb, and staff who speak and understand English. Our room was clean and comfortable, but would benefit from AC.It really hot when we were there, and we had to leave a fan on all night. The buffet breakfast was just about acceptable, and there was plenty of it.

For the price, which is v cheap for a central london hotel, it served us well. We had comfortable beds and a clean room with a good tv, however the bathrooms do need replacing, but still functioned ok. There is no AC, so it was stuffy. Buffet breakfast was fine as these go, we stuck to pastries and tea. Grim coffee. Almost all staff were helpful and polite to us during our stay. (Which cannot be said of some of the guests towards hotel staff.) The hotel is only 5 mins from Primrose Hill and a walk thro Regents Park. 5 mins from chalk farm tube. I think people need to get real for what they expect in central london. We then went on to the Holiday Inn which was £50 more per night, room only.

hotel is tired and strongly in need of complete overhaul to bring it up to the 21st century!
considering its position it certainly justifies a much higher standard.
The reception staff were unhelpful, the car park woefully inadequate and unmanaged, the dining room unpleasant and the breakfast amateurish.

Had a comfortable stay at this hotel. Fantastic location, 10 minutes walk from Camden. for the price we paid, we expected a more than we got. The hotel is a little run down and needs refreshing. The staff are polite and friendly

Stains on the floor, stains on the wall. Wallpaper missing, old tatty furniture, Tv with very bad picture.
But worst of all very rude receptionist, unfriendly staff.
I would rather stay on the street than stay in this hotel again, the do not deserve your custom or your hard earned cash.
They do not deserve one star!

Room Tip: My tip for you is STAY AWAY!

Stayed in this hotel in July, wished we had checked the reviews before booking. The hotel isn't cheap so we thought we were booking a nice hotel and a reputable hotel chain. On arrival we were told our double room was in the basement, no windows or air con in the rooms. We had to change to a single room on another floor. The carpets in the hallway were torn with gaffer tape covering the rips. Rooms were old and tired, curtains old & faded with black mould spores & damp patches all over. Carpets were threadbare & torn, furniture was mis matched, old, scratched, ring stains all over chipped. Bathroom had tiles which had fallen off the walls, black mould around the shower & shower head. Wc & whb were clean enough.
Food choice for the breakfast looked good, but the quality of the food was poor, tinned plumb tomatoes & tinned mushrooms in brine, cheap bacon which was fatty & sausages tasted strange.
I would not stay in this hotel again unless it is renovated & brought up to a better standard, very poor for the Britannia Group as this is a great location for visiting all the best places in London. Staff were helpful & friendly enough.

Room Tip: Don't stay here unless you are not fussy, but I'm sure you can get better for less money els...
