“Great location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here many times. Rooms are clean, small, and if you get a front one they overlook Hyde Park. Breakfast is okay, and you can wait ages to be served coffee to go along with the buffet. Restaurant staff arent too quick.

Initial impressions of the hotel aren't helped by the garage forecourt underneath, but don't be put off by that.

Inside the hotel is very pleasant. The room was pretty much what you expect, although I was impressed by the very well appointed en suite shower room, very nice shower indeed.

Only disappointment in the room was the video quality on the TV wasn't what your used to at home.

Breakfast was good, with large bowls of fresh yoghurt and fruit salad, and nice little mini pastries, all the things I like.

Best thing about the hotel I would say was the pleasant atmosphere / attitude of the staff. Everyone with a helpful smile. That said, the worst thing was when getting back late we asked for two room service meals to be served in the bar area, and were refused. Providing you are a resident and have a room number, I've never before been refused a meal from the room service menu, at room service prices, but just served in the residents lounge bar. So, instead of having a quiet chat over a late meal in a bar which was still open but not busy, my colleague and I had to go to our separate rooms to have something to eat in isolation. Real shame, as you can tell it's left something of a disappointing memory. I do hope the hotel will re-think their policy on this.

Still, I liked the hotel, liked the location and would certainly stay there again if I have business in the Kensington area.

Thank you for taking the time to review Thistle Kensington Garden. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and that the team delivered their typical friendly and personal service. We are currently addressing the TV issues with a number of contractors to resolve this effectively. Kind regards Marianne & the team.

The hotel staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good. The room itself was clean but extremely small- no closet or shelves to unpack our things. Had to live out of the suitcase...and there was no place to put the suitcase that wasn't in the way. The bathroom was small but very functional and had a great shower. Location was good since it was close to the underground.

Room Tip: Eat breakfast at the hotel- there aren't many restaurants nearby that offer a really good breakf...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am pleased that the team delivered their typical friendly service. Many of ours guests do choose an upgraded executive room to enjoy the additional comfort of a larger room boasting a king sized bed and beautiful views over the park. These are available from £40 per night. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel next time you are in London. Kind regards Marianne & the team.

I had read good reviews for the hotel which is why we chose to stay there. We had three adults in our group and we were booked into an executive suite. The room really was not big enough for three and the third bed was small and very uncomfortable. The TV came in intermittently and the guest computer was on the blink. Otherwise I would give the hotel top marks. The room was clean and we had a lovely window overlooking Kensington Gardens. The location was very handy and the help we received from the concierge arranging a taxi to the airport, flights, etc. was excellent.
I regret not booking directly with the Hotel - I was not happy with Ogoda's service. If we had we would have had breakfast included at a lower cost.

I stayed with my sister in a lovely twin room, perfect size to get ready in and nicely decorated, we even got upgraded to a park view which was amazing. The staff were very friendly and checked us in with a smile. It is a great base to explore London, with the underground only a few minutes walk away. Although the hotel is located above a petrol station & waitrose, it doesnt detract from the inside charm. We found the Waitrose especially helpful for grabbing late night snacks after a night of cocktails. Breakfast was also delicious with plenty of choice.

The hotel is a 3-minute walk from Queensway station. It's nicely kept and updated. We were upgraded to an executive room at check-in. It was small, the bathroom was also. There was barely enough room for our luggage. I would not have wanted to stay in the standard room. I'm sure it's smaller. Our room was facing the street and park. Unfortunately, we weren't high enough to see the view of the park. Street noise was not a problem. The side of the bed closest to the hotel door was more worn than the other. We opted to take advantage of the hotel breakfast for 10 pounds per person. The food was good, hot and convenient before heading out for the day. It seemed like a good value too. Kensington Palace is only about 10 minute walking distance. It was nice there's a small grocery store/gas station right next to the hotel for snacks and water. The hotel and restaurant staff were nice and helpful.

My wife and our friends stayed at The Thistle Kensington Gardens after attending a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

First impression is not great as it is located above a petrol station, with the main entrance to the side of the building. However, once inside that is soon forgotten.

The Waitrose supermarket that is also below the hotel was very useful for the purchase of some late night snacks after the concert though.

The room, though small, was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable indeed. There was nothing we could fault in any way. There wasn't a great deal of storage space available but, as we only stayed one night, that wasn't a problem for us.

The view over the car park, as we were at the back of the hotel, wasn't the best but as we didn't plan to spend much time in the room, it didn't matter.

The full English breakfast the following morning was also excellent.

We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to review Thistle Kensington Garden. I am please to hear of your satisfaction with the hotel; should you have been staying longer we would have recommended a room upgrade from just £20 per night as these rooms not only boast beautiful views over the park but are also more spacious. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future. Kind regards Marianne & the team.
