We spend a long weekend break at the Lancaster in London. It had great views overlooking the city, (we spend a little more and get the rooms on the higher decks). Nice location it is easy to take the tube to go downtown. Easy trip to heatrhrow too, only 20 mins with heathrow express, just 5 mins walk from paddington.

This was my wife's and I first trip to London an stayed at the Lancaster London. We had a great stay. While on the maps we thought the location to look quite good. It's actually a fair hike to the shops on Oxford. However with the Lancaster Gate Underground station right around the corner, everything becomes a lot closer.
When we arrived we were offered a room upgrade and although I have no idea what the normal would haven like this upgraded room was very good with lots of space. The only downside might be a slightly cramped washroom but it was quite well equipped (shower, bath, toilet, bidet, sink).
Staff were great in all aspects including front desk, bell, concierge, restaurant, housekeeping. We even had some Turkish delights left for us one day.
Great experience for our first visit to London.

Great service with friendly atmosphere, staff willing to do anything to help. We were greeted with a smile by almost every member of staff at the hotel, making us feel like friends rather than customers. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and the room was clean and very comfortable. When we arrived we were even offered a complimentary drink as the room was not ready yet. Overall a really enjoyable short break, although the hotel is expensive, it was worth every penny.

Room Tip: higher floors have a better view but are more expensive

The Lancaster is situated just across the street from Hyde Park and a minute walk to The Underground. We stayed here for 5 days to visit with friends and visit more of the sights that London has to offer. This location is wonderfully convenient.
We had the hotel order a car to pick us up at the airport when we arrived from Johannesburg in the wee hours of the morning. The driver confirmed that he had arrived by calling my cellphone and was courteous enough to wait almost an hour for us to clear passport control and customs. He delivered us without additional charges for the wait time. We ordered the same car to take us back to the airport upon departing to return to the USA.
We were able to check in immediately and sort ourselves out before going to the Island Grille for a bit of breakfast. Although there is a breakfast buffet, we opted for the ala carte menu at the Grille and found the menu and prices comparable to coffee shops and cafes in the area. The service and food were excellent.
We found our room to be a bit dated and lacking the necessary electrical outlets and plugs, but all requests for additional cords and plugs were handled expeditiously. We were informed that the rooms are gradually being updated as improvements are being made so as to earn the 5 star rating. The hotel is adding a gym and the construction noise is a bit annoying to the lower floors so I'd advise inquiring about the progress of the project when booking. It affects the lower floors the most; I must add that they only work M, W, and Friday.
We found the staff to be most friendly and anxious to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. The services of the Congierge ( thank you Sandra from Portugal) were exceptional! I must also mention that vacant rooms were cleaned and made ready for arriving guests without any intrusion to the surrounding rooms. Housekeeping goes about quietly doing their work such that you don't notice they're about.
My husband and I would definitely stay at the Lancaster on our return trips to London; we came as strangers and left as friends!

Room Tip: Ask about any construction going on in or around the hotel and request a quieter location.

STILL a good hotel, however every time I stay here there is an issue to report. This time it was a lack of COLD water in all of the taps. I have heard of hotels having no hot water but no cold water is a new one for me. The views from the 10th floor towards the city were great.

We are sorry to hear that you did not receive cold water in your room. This has consequently been fixed, we are just sorry that it was not during your stay. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Lancaster London in the near future.
