“Lovely Hotel”

Could not fault this hotel, Spacious, Exellent food, excellent décor, excellent food and excellent Staff, In a great location, opposite is Hyde Park and around 20 mins walk to Oxford Street. There is a tube station just round the corner from the hotel. We went when it was very busy on lead up to Xmas with our 6 year old which was not easy going down Oxford Street or Winter Wonderland, however the next day was a lot easier and we just jumped on the tube, went to the London Eye where there was a lot of entertainment, Our son loved seeing sights. There is a pub next door to the hotel but didn't find it very child friendly so just ended up chilling in the hotel after our hectic walking around London

Reasonable rates for this hotel which is an easy walk from Paddington Station (rail) which has direct links to Heathrow. The nearest Tube station is Lancaster Gate but other lines are within 15 minutes walk.
Check-in was slow but it coincided with the World Triathlon in Hyde Park and a number of competitors were staying in the hotel.
My room on 5th floor was a decent size with a small bathroom. The bed proved a bit hard for my liking but not bad enough to stop a good sleep. It was quiet as it didn't face on to any road.
Breakfast was included and the selection was good.
Overall a good stay at a reasonable tariff for London.

Room Tip: 543 was quiet - down a longish corridor

Just home from a 2 day stay at this "hotel". I must firstly say that my tastes are not that exclusive and my needs very basic and this hotel certainly didn't satisfy either. The only positive about the hotel is its location adjacent to Hyde Park and close to the tube, but that's where the positives end. In no particular order the bedroom was small, the double bed even smaller, the restaurant served average food with shockingly slow service and the prices at the bar were akin to those you would pay at the ritz. The staff seem disinterested and could benefit from a size 12 inserted in a certain part of their anatomy. The breakfast buffet in fairness wasn't bad, but for all its façade (from the outside it looks like a proper posh hotel) this is an exceptionally bad hotel considering the cost of a night I would have no hesitation in saying I received better service and got a better nights sleep in countless hostels at a fraction of the cost. DO NOT STAY HERE

There were good parts as bad parts to staying at the Corus. Wifi was not fast by any means, rooms small, bathroom small, tv small and really far away, heaps of channels but hardly any work, we asked for an Umbrella as it was raining, got a small broken one- its the small things that make the difference. It was however close to Oxford Street and across the road from Hyde Park, close to tube also, comes in handy. Could probably find better value for money if you looked around. I wouldn't say it's a 4 star.

Had dinner with some colleagues who were staying at the hotel. First of all the good points - fantastic entrance foyer - plenty of comfy armchairs, bright airy etc.

Then there's the food. Ate in Olio's restaurant. One of our party's chicken satay wasn't cooked - they did take this off the bill. My Poached Tiger prawns with chili and coriander consisted of 4 small prawns and a bowl of sliced vegetables including carrot (!). For the main, I had a Malaysian chicken curry - was ok but nothing special and the rice came after I was half way through. One colleague's duck was rubbery and tasteless. Bar drinks very expensive.

Can't comment on the rooms as I didn't see them, but several members of the party commented on their small size. One was given a key his room only to find a lady having a shower in it already. On returning to the reception was informed the mistake had happened because the previous occupant had decided to stay an extra night. This could have been very awkward had my colleague not vacated the room very quickly.
Overall a poor showing.

Great location. That's it. I stay in hotels around London every week. When I came to check into a room with a guaranteed booking and written confirmation was told sorry no rooms are available! 5 reception staff, not one of them would own the issue and a manager who sat in an office behind a closed door and wouldn't even speak to me until a demanded it.

That manager then blamed the hotel, the booking system, taking NO ownership himself. Shocking and would never risk booking into this hotel again

A hotel is bound to overbook rooms just as an airline does in the home people don't arrive but not even attempting to call me ahead to advise what's happened with an alternative option of another hotel would likely as not get my business. A hotel that just hopes I won't arrive will not.

Imagine if you were travelling with your family, small children, etc after a long journey to be faced with this level of incompetence and complete lack of customer service. Make sure that's not you, I know it will never be me at this hotel again

I stayed here overnight on business. I had a good size room, for London, that had no obvious faults and was clean. Plenty of power sockets and a decent TV. Breakfast was good quality and service was good. An enthusiastic head waiter makes all the difference. The only downside was poor WiFi coverage. Good WiFi is nowadays an important part of a hotel. Overall I was impressed and would stay here again.
