“Not much for the value”
Reviewed June 10, 2012

The beautifully decorated and well-lit pictures online are deceiving. Our room is nothing but a bed with thin covers and a few pieces of furniture- cute, but not a place to hang out. Plumbing difficulties abound but have been dealt with quickly. Awesome location, though.

Stayed two nights in May.It was a weekend so no trouble from nearby building site.Room 309 at back of hotel so very quiet the first night, however second night had to suffer until 4am because of party at rear of hotel. No a/c but ceiling fan quite adequate, and reminded me of my army days in the middle east.Very clean room and continental breakfast very good.

We just returned from London and our 3 night stay at Kensington House Hotel was great!Yes,we were looking at a huge construction site, but work didn't start before 8 am and was over by the time we returned early evening.Continental breakfast was good and service was good throughout the hotel. It's all about location and that can't be beat!Free museums are a few blocks away,as is Kensington and Hyde Parks.Restaurants and shopping are a few blocks away.We would stay here again.

Room Tip: avoid rooms overlooking construction site if possible, but its not about the noise just the view

I stayed 3 nights in room 308, a single with its own balcony looking out over Cambridge Place at the rear of the hotel. That this is the wettest spring in living memory, so I could only sit out on it 1 night out of 3 isn't the hotel's fault!
The room is definitely 'bijou' but had a single bed; two-drawer desk, with plenty room for luggage under; a roomy bathroom; a full length built-in wardrobe/cupboard that contained a hospitality tray, a hair dryer, an ironing board and iron and a room safe. It was a bit of a contortion to get into the safe but it worked fine.
The bed was extremely comfortable, and everything was very clean.
The room had a linking door to the room next door, presumably to accommodate family groups but it did mean that it was very hear-through, and their main door banged shut on a very loud spring!

I had no problems with the lift, and the breakfast room was clean and bright and always had plenty of tables free. There was a wide choice of cereals, juices, breads, cheese, ham and jams. Limitless coffee or tea.

All of the staff were pleasant and efficient and spoke good English, although I didn't mean anyone whose first language was English.

Excellent location for the Albert Hall, and excellent bus services less than 5 minutes' walk away.
If I have to be in Kensington again, this is definitely where I'd stay.

What a disaster. A construction site right across the road, noise from dawn till way past dusk. Room faced into the sun, window blind inadequate for shade. Room became unbearably hot, no air conditioning. Couldn't open window due to noise from building site. Light over shower broken, advised reception, still broken at end of stay. Used elevator first day, but never saw it again. Always seemed to be in the basement, had to use stairs. Dining room woefully small for the number of guests. Saw people waiting in foyer for a table. One American couple ate breakfast somewhere else. Dining room staff run off their feet. Had to wait for clean dishes, on more than one occasion. Only plus for this establishment was its location

Just returned from a great stay in Kensington House Hotel! We LOVED the property and location...as it was literally minutes away from the Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, 2 tube stations, nice restaurants, the Natural History Museum.... and the list goes on and on. We felt very safe walking even in the evening. Yes, construction is across the street, but all the positives far outway that distraction. (Noise was not a factor.) All staff was VERY polite and helpful at all times. Breakfast was just right, not heavy. Full bath/showers, comfortable beds, comp.water and toiletries were quality. Elec. Adaptors provided... WiFi in rooms, computer/printer station available. We Look forward to our next visit!

Stayed in room 209! Very small, no curtains, blinds wouldn't close, bathroom like a broom cupboard! Breakfast is free as no one in their right mind would pay for it! Better value and quality elsewhere!

Room Tip: Say no if you get 209
