“Served our needs but a tad expensive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

Disappointed not to have been able to have my first choice in the K & K George Hotel we booked up at the Kensington Court for two nights. Read all the reviews of the hotel and rather expected the worst. We,being three generations, me, daughter & granddaughter had a large triple room with three very comfortable beds and en suite tired bathroom with bath and shower(s). The shower on the wall was very very hot and seemed broken as I was virtually unable to regulate the temperature at all so used the shower head on the bath which was not much of an improvement. Pleasant shampoo etc and nice fresh, clean towels. Lovely large TV for the few minutes we were actually in the room other than crashing out. Breakfast was sufficient; plenty of croissant type pastries, I say "type" because they weren't those wickedly buttery real french items but our own drier versions, fruit, yoghurts, jams, marmalade etc as well as boiled eggs & cereal all laid out to have as much or as little as you wish. Tea or coffee and toast brought to your table and a cooked breakfast was available for a supplement -which looked good. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful as were the restaurant staff. The room was very warm and as always the first thing I do is turn the radiator off and open the window. All in all a pleasant experience but nothing more so possibly a tad expensive for a no frills experience. Earls Court Tube 3-4 only minutes away so very convenient.

The food was cold and had to wait over an hour for 6 cooked breakfast, in witch they come out one at a time and by the time I had tryed to eat mine others on the table had to wait a further 30 mins, the shower did not work , the fire exit was left open all night, I didn't realise till the morning, the lift was tiny, I had to carry an iron and ironing board to the room with no help, £9:50 for a breakfast that was not fit even for a pet, the bed was ok but it was two single ones put together so u could feel the seem in the middle, paint work coming of the bath and bodge jobs in paint work covering a fault on bath room door,And other parts of the hotel, I was so upset as it was for my partners birthday, I didn't feel welcome at all and think its a rip of for what I paid, it should have no stars and not Classed as a hotel but a hostel

Ive stayed at many hotels this year the length and breadth of the country and numerous in london

Plus points are location, very good wifi and room size

Down points. Cleanliness, Smallest lift I've ever been in, and service. I.e. asked for iron and board at reception. In most hotels they bring it to your room. Here, it was handed to me at reception

Major down point. THE BREAKFAST... AWFUL.. THE WORST EVER.. But the plus point with it was that it was that bad that it kept us giggling about it all day... The bacon was a poor example of spam. The beans all seven of them were ice cold, a Uncooked raw tomato, a sausage which contained as much meat as a daffodil. And mushrooms that had been chopped so small the we're almost purée. If you like a giggle book in for your £9.50 breakfast... But if you like your food. Don't eat there.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The room was bigger than I expected, with a small sofa 'living' area and two single beds, an en-suite bathroom with shower and a TV with all Freeview channels. There was also a small fridge with a few canned/bottled drinks provided (there is a surcharge for consuming these), but is just as good for keeping your own food/drinks cool.

Our room was next to the lift so we could hear humming/banging whenever someone used it. There was also a hum from the fridge constantly, but these noises were fairly quiet and did not disturb my sleep. Staff were friendly and courteous; easy and quick to check in and out. Would definitely consider staying again.

Only complaint is that the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work, and we couldn't figure out how to make the central heating radiator/towel rack work so it was cold in the mornings. The free wifi was slow, but this is most likely due to a large number of people using it at once.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, choose a room away from the lift due to noise.

The facilities in the room were either broken or seemed about to break; the shower was pretty feeble; the breakfast was awful, not real bacon - rashers! what are they???? accompanied by puffed up sausages full of wheat or something and the rest of breakfast was similarly poor. The manager wouldn't address any of these, including the tv remote that didn't work (they insisted it was batteries but it wasn't - we're not that daft!) so we weren't able to relax and watch TV in the evenings as we wanted. The manager refused to even to talk to us about our problems and still hasn't called us to apologise for our inconveniences as the receptionist promised.

The receptionists tried hard to compensate for a disinterested management and a very low standard of maintenance - our advice find another place unless you just want a bed.

Room Tip: check the tv and the shower first and don't bother with breakfast

We booked two rooms for one night as we were attending a conference at Olympia.
The hotel states it has a car park but it is ridiculously small and almost impossibe to manoeuvre an estate car in!! There was no space available anyway meaning we had to pay extra in a different car park until a space became available. The manager was completely unhelpful and offered no apology or discount on the parking fee that she subsequently charged us even when we mentioned that we had telephoned the hotel three times prior to our stay to check about parking.
Rooms were of a reasonable standard but shower too hot to use in our room and broken in the other room.
Breakfast reasonable.

We stayed in this hotel for one night in November when my son and I came to London for a shopping trip. The location is very good - a 3 to 4 minute walk away from Earls Court tube station. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable with everything you could wish for. The bathroom was spotless and there was plenty of hot water - once I had worked out how to use the shower!
The continental breakfast was fine - plenty of cereals, fresh fruit, croissants etc and they also served hot cooked food for a small supplement.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely use this hotel again when I visit London.
