“Very Accommodating!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

After reading a few reviews, I was a bit nervous about what to expect when my husband and I arrived in London from New York. I was pleasantly surprised!
The Room/Hotel
The room itself was a standard room. It was small in size, but for central London, that is pretty typical. There was tons of closet space and the bathroom was average size for a hotel room. You will have to pay for internet, microwaves are not available in the room or hotel and there is a refrigerator, but its stacked with mini bar options (once you remove them you are automatically responsible for paying for those items, so be careful). You can however request that they empty its contents so that you can use it to store food. I have some strict dietary needs because of my pregnancy, but again the staff was accommodating. If you were thinking of catching a couple of workouts here, there is no fitness center or pool available in the hotel as there are in Holiday Inn's in the states, but if you are planning on exploring the city, walking is great exercise.
The Staff
The staff was quite friendly, knowledgeable and polite. The only experience that we didn't have that was during check in, but then a senior staff member took over and problem solved! Room service was convenient. The usual wait time for food was about 30-45 minutes after ordering. The food was not that of a 5 star restaurant, but none the less, it was good. The best meal to order food would be breakfast. Breakfast was amazing! Prices for food is typical of a hotel, mid range prices, but you can always venture in the neighborhood and find something much cheaper if you are on a budget. Towels, tea, bathroom goods (soap, shampoo, conditioner) are replaced, beds are made and trash cans are emptied daily. Concierge was super helpful in getting cabs and private cars for us when we wanted to go to St. Pancreas station for a day trip to Paris (at 5am) and the airport. They even looked up our terminal number when requesting a car to take us to the airport.
The location
The location is in central London in Westminster. Pretty close to main attractions such as Buckingham Palace, Green Park and Picadilly Circus (think Times Square), just to name a few. You can basically walk to these locations and if you want to venture further out into the city, the Green Park tube is about 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The tube is pretty cheap and convenient (except there is no central air conditioning and it gets really stuffy and hot) and if you are from any large city, you'll find it pretty easy to navigate. The area is very posh, so if you wanted to do some upscale shopping, this is the place for that. Restaurants vary. There are coffee and sandwich shops to high end restaurants, pastry/chocolate boutiques, a few pubs and grab and go spots...a little bit of everything. Great location!
Overall, we had a great experience at this hotel and would recommend if you are thinking of staying here.

Stayed at this hotel on Friday night. Location is excellent right opposite the Ritz easy walking distance to all the main attractions. Only short walk to Covent Garden on the Friday night took bit longer getting back may have been the Peroini.
The hotel staff were excellent and really helpful. The rooms need a modernisation and this lady looks a bit tired. Would stay there again but would not pay full price. The car parking is £45 a night which for that part is not too much and cheaper than being towed. The only thing is if travelling up on a friday try to get there after 6 and miss the congerstion charge. Ended up paying £12.00 for 1 1/2 hours.

The location of this hotel is fabulous, better than any hotel location wise right in front of Hyde Park. I stayed in this hotel with my family and they accommodation us all in one room. Sarah on the front desk was really helpful, polite and a real asset to the hotel.

The restaurant staff was amazing from Louise who couldn't do enough to help and Ben the food and beverage guy was really really friendly and another asset to the Hotel. The food was really enjoyable and the family loved the atmosphere.

I would like to thank Ben for his help with the parking and Robert who was on the concierge.

Thanks for everything

Room Tip: Great Staff wonderful location.

The location in London is perfect...you can get anywhere fairly quickly. The room somewhat small, with only the cold water tap working in the sink, was kept clean as expected. The hotel falls down on the service front...our extra towels never arrived, the ice took two phone calls. All that can be overlooked because as I said the location is perfect. If booking ask for a room not on Berkeley street..it is pretty active on weekend nights.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the back.

Dear HikerMom58,
I note that you were dissatisfied with the service provided at our hotel and from your review I can clearly see why. Let me firstly apologised for this. This is not at all typical of the way we conduct our business and certainly not what you have a right to expect. I thank you for your understanding but there is no excuse for avoidable poor service and I intend to speak with the managers of the responsible departments to get this fixed.
Thank you fagain or your custom.
Yours faithfully

I was very impressed with this hotel. It is rather pricey for a Holiday Inn,but it is worth the money. The location is excellent. It is convenient to Green Park,Buckingham Palace, etc. There are also the Red Buses for sightseeing located about a block away. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The check-in/check out process was flawless. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. I strongly recommend this hotel!

Very nice place for a family stay in London. The location is perfect, close to the underground with direct service from Hethrow and all attractions eithon walking distance. The 2 queen bed rooms are perfect value for money for a small family. Good service, a little worn but clean and nice. Recommended!

We recently returned from a 3 night stay in London and the location of this hotel was perfect. Buckingham Palace was only a 5 minute walk across Green Park then a further 10-15 minutes to Westminster and Trafalgar Square. If you like shopping then again we found the location to be only 15-20 minutes from Oxford Street, Regent Street and 25 minutes from Harrods.
We found all the staff very polite and friendly and check-in was simple and quick. The rooms were very comfortable if a little dated, but we spent very little time in the room other than to sleep. The buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choice (full English, cereals, fruit, pancakes etc.) and we found the staff to be very attentive.
Mayfair itself is very exclusive, however if you like convenience there is a Sainsbury's local over the road. We used this to buy our lunch before visiting London zoo.
Overall we found this hotel to be in an excellent location, the staff were polite and attentive and we would definitely stay here again...
