We have stayed at this hotel three times now, booked as a mystery hotel at a great rate. We
jumped into a taxi from Euston that cost us a tenner. Room clean, warm and bed comfortable.
Breakfast was very hectic as it was Half Term but even so everything was replenished regularly and it was hot. Staff were all polite and helpful. We walked to St. Pancras next morning for Eurostar very conveniently situated for this purpose-about a ten minute walk. Didn't use the pool this time as we weren't there long enough, so can't comment on that as it's been refurbed since last time we went.
Overall, I felt it necessary to write a review as this hotel is quite low in the ratings and I think that perhaps people may be put off by this which is a bit of a shame.

The hotel was exactly what we expected it to be. Quite basic for a 4 Star, however, it was clean and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. Only a 10 min walk to Covent Garden and Theatreland.

Stayed 3 nights for business meetings. Unfortunately this hotel is a fair walk from any tube, I thought it was adjacent to Kings Cross but its nowhere near so for some may even warrant a taxi. Reception service was good with nice cups of tea, breakfast also fine and I got a free room upgrade to the 8th floor so room bathroom etc were fine, basically what you'd expect from the chain. As for all in London its expensive for what you get and the location is poor.

Room Tip: 8th floor rooms are good

Generally tired in its décor - staff non existent, the lounge area was devoid of staff, having to track someone down to get a cuppa. Check in took ages and the pull out bed was so thin you could feel the springs. I wouldn't rush back........

We stayed here for one night, and chose to take the hotel as it had a gym and looked quite nice - this really isn't the case. There's an extra charge for the gym (not much, but surely if you're paying £150+ for a hotel room, you don't need to pay an extra £3.50 for the gym). Wifi was prohibitively expensive. The hotel has a general air of tiredness - corridors and rooms in need of refurbishment, nothing quite clean. The desk staff were abrupt.

The gym was the real disappointment though. The staff in the gym were frankly rude: I asked for the music to be turned down as I was the only person in there, and I could still hear the thumping bass over my headphones... and they said they couldn't turn it off as "they'd just have to turn it on again", instead telling me to turn up my headphones. For the 35 minutes I was in there, I was completly on my own (so it's not like the guy was rushed off his feet). The steam room was dirty and had many many missing tiles (like, 20% missing or something). The changing rooms were tiny, and the showers didn't drain well so you ended up ankle deep in soap scum. Really not a 4* hotel experience.

Room Tip: My tip would be to choose a different hotel.

Dear hannah d,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. It is unfortunate to see your experience at the health and fitness center prevented you from fully enjoying your time at the hotel. Advertised and priced as 4-star - I won't go there again.

Very little was "luxurious", more than one of the staff were offhand to near rudeness, there was a camp bed left in my room (Why?!), and there was overhead charge for the pool and Internet (both expensive).

My last time there.

It's a little tricky to find a hotel for a family in London. This served us well. We got a great deal off of Hotwire and were pleased with the room and the quiet neighborhood. There were a lot of tube stops within 6 blocks (Russell Square, Kings Cross, San Pancras) and a few busses that were across the street (63) or around the corner. The room was big, had a refrigerator (a big plus for a family), nice TV, nice bathroom, a table and 2 chairs and a nice view of a pleasing neighborhood (ask for a higher floor...we were on 6). The service was good.

We had 3 complaints: for the price, we felt that internet should be free; the pool/health club were not included...you had to pay each time you used it, yet it was touted as a feature on hotwire; no breakfast included, although there was a restaurant. We did not find the restaurant appealing enough to spend one of our meals there.

Room Tip: higher up floors have nice views
