The hotel is very well located around 10 min. walk from the King's Cross station. The room is nice, clean, big enough. The breakfast doesn't offer much, same routine, no varieties. One has to pay for the gym/swimming pool access. The staff is friendly.

This rooms were very large, reasonably priced and clean. Definitely not luxury but perfectly acceptable with a decent restaurant (recommend the fish and chips but not the breakfast), good location, and polite staff.

We arrived in London early by train from Loughborough to Kings Cross , we got the underground to London center, like the london eye and big ben etc. And then we checked in later on in the day , and i was very surprised , the Reception was alot bigger than i imagined , very surprised , the room was large ,with a big double bed and a sofa bed , there was also a door which was because of interconnecting rooms , i was worried incase we could here next door but thankfully couldn't , there was a mini bar containing mineral water and fresh orange juice , there was bathrobes available in our room too , it is a shame that the windows dont open but this is for safety reasons so that was reasonable , had an ok nights sleep but this was my own fault , im not a great sleeper sometimes ! surely when i had a better sleep at a travelodge wasnt true !. Breakfast was very nice, full english with a option of toast , tea, coffee and water. The walk to kings cross station was only 15/20 minute walk away. Overall lovely hotel , would stay again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with city views, and not of the buildings and grotty childrens playground.

Hotel has imProved but still has rotten-egg smelling tap water, so expect to buy bottled water in lobby. Also, no washcloths are supplied. Staff was friendly and food relatively good. Very comfy bar. A decent hotel for the price, just not quite what you wouldexpect of a Holiday Inn in the US. I would stay here again without hesitation.

I booked a room here for a two night stay in London later this week. 30 minutes later something unexpected came up and I needed to cancel. They refused to let me cancel without 100% booking fee. I understand under the terms of the booking they didn't need to let me cancel and wouldn't have minded paying something but very mean spirited to allow nothing. Judging from other comments doesn't seem surprising as they charge for everything. Also short sighted as I regularly travel to London and will never book with them again.

Hotel may be technically in kings cross I actually don't know, I do know that it's a good walk from Kings cross tube or I would recommend a taxi.

The hotel is very warm and so are the rooms, so much so it's hard to sleep in the summer.

The rooms are nice enough and if lucky for an upgrade you will be pleased with a free orange juice in an exec rom.

Restaurant is okay, breakfast is not brilliant. Bread is almost always stale but that could be because of the heat.

It seems very popular with tourists so it's generally always busy.

I did like this hotel and would be happy to stay again, however they do need to change their broadband policy.

Good points
Location
Hotel has an excellent location, just a short walk from Russell square tube and within walking distance to Leicester square and Covent garden (about 30 minutes).

Rooms
Clean and comfortable with large flat screen tv. Free safe to use and plenty of closet space. Toiletries are available.

Staff
Very friendly and professional when checking in and out. During breakfast, staff are efficient and attentive, very impressed.

Food
Only had breakfast, but they had an excellent buffet selection and tea and/or coffee is brought very quickly.

Bad points
Room
Although very comfortable, there needs to be a better lighting system. There is no main light or switches to side lights when entering the room, this meant room was very dark.
Broadband, biggest downside to this hotel. £5 for one hour, that is the same amount that I pay for fast broadband for a month. Although you can pay £16 for a day, bargain!!!

Breakfast
Tables are too close together you have to push into other people's tables to get up.

Holiday inn customer service
Used the online service to confirm my reservation before travelling to London. First after filling in their advisor form, message popped up to say this is not currently staffed. Filled in a online form, which included name of hotel, dates etc. 3 days later I get an email to ask for name of hotel and dates, I respond to say i have rung the hotel (at 10p a minute) itself to confirm due to the time being taken. Then after already arrived and on my last day at the hotel, I get an email to say my request has been forwarded to the hotel and will receive an answer shortly? Holiday Inn need to significantly improve their customer service for a basic request such as confirming reservation.
