Britannia International Hotel

This is not the grandest or cheapest hotel in London but we found our room very comfortable, clean and bright. Some of the furnishings were looking a bit tired but certainly nothing to make an issue over. Breakfasts and dinners were both buffet style meals with plenty of variety on offer and we found the food excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. On the negative side, the nearby docklands railway was a bit noisy and could possibly disturb a light sleeper. The good news is that the trains stop soon after midnight!

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms are on the quite side away from the railway.

One night stay. Hotel is not as close to canary wharf or south quay as hoped for. It's a walk away and the stretch leading up to the hotel is very dark. Old hotel. Never been to one that had a single bed before so guess this was my first! Tiny room, bed. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Price is decent for docklands.

My wife and I only stayed here for one night. We were given a deluxe room with king size bed. It was huge by European standards. All the amenities were rather classic in nature (one might said old but they weren't broken down or anything but just looked rather aged).

Wifi is available free, bathroom was clean and the bathtub has a jet in it!

The bed was comfy. Nothing to complain about really except the location is designed for those working in the business district. (so technically its not their fault but mine for booking at that district).

It even has a North Indian restaurant to boot so definitely suitable for international guest like myself.

Went to watch the tennis at the 02 & stayed here , it was in a great location with nice views from our room & easy access to canary warf & tube to the 02 arena. The rooms were satisfactory but small & the beds were not the greatest & weren't very wide. Had a bit of a hangover in the morning & didn't eat much breakfast but the food seemed just about passable although the fried eggs looked like they had been sat on the buffet table for hours with people expected to still eat them. On my judgement I would say this was an average 4 star hotel at best & fear it may be quite dis- organised & when busy. Would probably stay again as it wasn't particularly expensive & especially because of its great location .

We stayed at the Britannia Int last week 31/10/2013-01/11/2013. Overall the hotel is looking a bit sad with light bulbs missing , paint missing in a lot of areas especially the lift and chairs in the foyer torn but our main complaint was when we went to eat. You get a choice with the offer when we booked of a free bottle of wine and a meal from either the indian or the pizza restuarant but be aware there are restrictions on what you can have and they wont let you order from the main menu. The service in the indian was terrible , had to wait 30 mins just to get a seat and another just to get our starters , with 1 waiter being very rude when we asked how long our meal would be and considering they had at least 8 tables empty there was no reason for bad service. breakfast was buffet and very good but hotel just needs a makeover or someone going round every now and again checking things.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrade and what offer entails ?????

We stopped here on a voucher deal for £99 this included breakfast, 2 course evening meal (choice of 3 restaurants) late check out, use of the spa and a bottle of wine on arrival. To be honest we didn't go expecting much for our money but ended up coming away really impressed! Yes the hotel is a bit dated but with the chandeliers and other features it adds character and charm. The entrance is nice with it's revolving doors into a big lobby reception, the staff we dealt with were very helpfull and the food was good! The room we stayed in 1130 was more than enough for what we needed, yes again a little dated but had a charm to it and was clean also the veiw was brilliant! We looked out over the high rise blocks, water and got a great veiw of the O2 Arena!
We would stop here again and even pay the full price (as long as we had the same view/room). I will say though if you go planning an early night & lay in you may want to book a room on the side of the hotel that doesn't have the overground running past it as this constantly goes from around 4:30am-11pm not an unpleasant noise but if your a light sleeper not the best.

We stayed here as we had tickets to the ATP tennis at O2 arena. On the plus side it was a nice location, our room 702 had lovely views over the dock area. A short walk round the back of the hotel and over a footbridge brings you to the shopping mall, Canary Wharf station and Canada Square where the ice rink was functioning. For people with a bus pass there are very convenient and regular buses into the centre of London. It is also convenient for Petticoat Lane market on Sundays.
Room. Nice views, good size, comfortable bed and clean. On the minus side the bathroom fittings were very tired, the shower head wouldn't stay up on the adjuster and the soap dish was a bit rusty looking. However, there was lots of hot water and everything worked OK. Nice toiletries provided. The towels were a bit small and getting a bit worn but they were OK, they did the job. The worst thing from my point of view was the air conditioning didn't work. The room got very hot and since the windows do not open I was not happy. (I filled in a card to report this and left it when I checked out - maybe they'll fix it) Non-opening windows are my pet hate in hotels. It was very quiet, the sound proofing seems to work well against noisy people in adjoining rooms. You can hear the DLR trains running over the bridge behind the hotel all night , although this didn't worry me or keep me awake. I was very pleased to see that a small tea pot was provided with the kettle and cups.
Food. We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment but we did use the buffet restaurant and that was very good value. If you can bag a table near the water so much the better. We also ate at the Spice (Indian) restaurant and found that excellent too. The food is not overpriced and neither is the beer.
Overall, for the price I paid I was very satisfied with our stay. If I needed to stay in this locality again I would certainly consider returning.
