“Call it a hotel what a joke”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2014

My friend & I bought a package deal which covered the hotel & theatre tickets. A big disappointment when we pulled up outside to a scruffy reception door welcomed to a lobby full of old tables & chairs not even clean or arranged in some sort of fashion as you would expect in a foyer. Public toilets filthy, decor shabby carpets so stained they made you want to itch. Breakfast what a joke we had to sit at tables with dirty dishes help ourselves to a poor quality breakfast served on chipped crockery. We ended up spending a fortune on underground tickets & taxi's & taking in these costs could have stayed in a much nicer clean hotel closer to where we should have been.

Room Tip: Book into the hotel next door

Yes, rooms do need updating, but perfectly clean . Beds need knew Matresses , but spacious bathrooms and clean towels daily.
Breakfast Room was cramped due to Renovation of new Bar and Restaurant, but adequate breakfast was offered, although coffee not good.
The location is good for walking Kensington Gardens and Hyde park and one of the best qualities about this place is the friendly helpful reception staff. first class.
would stay again for 1 or 2 nights.

Room Tip: 3rd floor very quiet , no traffic noise.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a theatre trip and my god it was by far the worst experience of my life! I can't bring myself to actually call this place a hotel! It's grubby, cramped, has no atmosphere and overall had a very unwelcoming feel to it! Our room was simply disgusting! We found pubic hairs in our shower and sink, the wall paper was peeling off the walls, the windows were so dirty we couldn't see out of them, the beds were like pull out camp beds with a single pillow so thin I could have ripped it in half! The breakfast was not at all appetising never mind the fact that you had to eat it in one of the 8 tables in the hotel lobby!?!? That is just unheard of! It's a shame that the location is rather good because this hotel was simply stomach turning! BELIEVE THE REVIEWS!

We only stayed here for a night, thank god. We booked the hotel as we knew we were not going to spend much time in the room. On arrival everything seemed fine, room was clean and spacious enough, however the air-con didn't work and you could only open the window a little. The beds had rubber mattress protectors and our room was next to the lift meaning we were kept up all night long with a child who couldn't sleep with the noise of the lift and people coming in and out. The room was absolutely boiling and we had no way of cooling it down. There were a lot of dodgy characters around to say the least and when I tried to complain the hotel were not very interested and just gave a meek, sorry! We don't normally stay in budget hotels, but thought since we were only sleeping there then there wouldn't be a problem. We were wrong, my advise, spend an extra 40-50 pounds and stay somewhere decent.

Location is OK, just outside the congestion zone with parking nearby (£24 for 24 hours).

As you approach the hotel main entrance you have to ask the smokers congregating round the entrance to let you through.

Check in was simple although a credit card was required and charged a £10 deposit despite having paid in advance.

The room linen was clean, that was it regarding clean things in the room.

The carpet was stained/marked and generally extremely grubby. It looked like a workshop floor and I didnt want my kids to be in a room like this.

The curtains were in a sorry state.

The bathroom was dirty with nasty bacteria like growths round the bath/sink and a toilet seat that was not secure. We had two rooms as it was a family visit and the other room had the same issues but with bolts left on top of the toilet that looked like part of the seat securing bolts.

Very noisy at night and the next door building work power drills started just after 8 in the morning.
Tried to have breakfast that we had paid for in advance but there were no tables as the hotel has a tiny area for breakfast, it was like trying to get breakfast on a busy tube station platform with pushing for places, we just walked away and went elsewhere.

This was booked through Super Breaks as part of a theatre visit, very disappointed in them for using a Hotel like this.

This Hotel was a shambles, a dirty one at that. Dont let the "we are being refurbished" excuse be an excuse for the rooms being in a dirty condition because it is not a valid reason.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere
