This is the last time I ever eat at this establishment. Was looking forward to a pleasant early lunch which turned into a torturous marathon session where my guest and I just couldn't wait to get out. We arrived promptly at 12:30 pm and the opening drinks and bread were served efficiently. The first course of prawns was fine, whilst the asparagus starter was fairly tasteless thick set pieces. We then waited over 50 minutes for the main course to arrive consisting of a very ordinary porterhouse steak and fries. This steak took 8 minutes per side maximum to cook. There was no excuse for keeping us waiting nearly an hour and our queries were meant with: "its coming....." , when clearly it was not. There was obviously a mix up in the kitchen as the two tables on either side of us were served before us in spite of being seated 20 minutes after we ordered our meal. We confronted the waitress and manager, but neither was able to figure out how to say: "I am sorry, we made a mistake". We didn't have time to finish the meal at this point and left furious, vowing never to return.

We went on a Top Table offer 3 courses and cocktail for 25. The choice was quite limited but you can view this in the set menu on the website (top table menu is out of date). The service was attentive and just right, the atmosphere busy but easy enough to speak. The food was good but be prepared to pay for side orders. What we did have was tasty and well presented. The art displayed is quirky also explained on web site. Finally , the cocktail is a small version of the hi x fix which is sparkling wine and a cherry infused mixture I liked it my other half doesn't like fizz.

we ate here with friends and were disappointed in the quality of the food
The staff were friendly and tried to correct mistakes, but considering the chefs reputation , the food did not live up
to expectations

Meeting a friend for lunch in London - this seemed the ideal spot. Unfortunately it was a hot summers day which made the interior of Hix look particularly gloomy and uninviting. That coupled with the fact that at 12.30 there was no one there but us, and it therefore lacked a certain ambience. The food was ok - not spectacular and quite pricey at £100 for two for the set lunch with a bottle of wine, and no frills. The service was good, but then there was no pressure. It did get busier around 1.00 however. We had a pleasant enough lunch, but would we go back? Probably not.
